I was planning on getting a 970 this week but just now decided to **** it and get a 980! :p

Looking at them none really stand out. The Classified is currently £50 off and I'm assuming it's binned so can't really go wrong right?

The G1 gaming has no weeklu sale and is sitting at £509 currently.

Do you intend to put it at least under water? Do you want a half decent warranty?

If the answer is yes? then it may be worth it.

If not? there's a plethora of good air cooled 980s for less money. MSI are very good with warranty and the 980 gaming is an awesome card.

Not worth it,http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Gefor...ials/Evga-GTX-980-Classified-OC-Test-1153148/

Don t expect really high clocks. Every 980 can manage to hit ~1400-1500MHz.
Here in Germany we have some extreme Overclockers, a guy grilled 2 classys and he had 4 of these cards but they weren t better overclocker than the other 980s.
In the Link above you can see Benchmarks of the classy @ 4K and watch the video.
Also use automatic translation via Browser. If you want a 980, get a cheaper one, like f.e. Inno X3 Version (not X4).

I don't plan on putting the card I get under water no. A warranty is always nice though of course.

Then go for a cheaper EVGA.

So many people don't use these cards for what they were designed to do, which is be slapped under water/DICE and clocked to heck.

I plan to put mine under Water at some point I the future. But on air, it will clock to 1580 at stock volts. As others have said, a cheaper Card would do you, say the EVGA Superclock for example.

There is no point spending big money on a 980 Classified with the Titan X just around the corner.

For gaming any 980 will be good enough.

For benching a 980 Classified is made pointless by the Titan X.

I agree, but double the price (I assume the Titan X will be at least a grand) doesn't really put it in the same bracket as even the expensive Kingpin. It's not as if you can say 'If you're willing to spend £600 you might as well pay £1000+'. That's a pretty big difference.

If you are benching you want the fastest which is the Titan X.

If you are gaming and want to use a 980, any of them will do as you would be hard pressed to see any difference with the Classified.:)

Ah I get what you mean now. I have little interest in benching so it would be just for gaming. It's going to be the EVGA SC or the G1. I'm waiting to see if OcUK will price match a G1 980 I've found. If not, it's the SC:)

Titan X pitiful PWM for sure and only reference design boards. Only option is to put E Power or Gpower. Classified much more fun without the hastle of getting it bench ready. For gaming though 980 G1 absolutely fine.
