nVidia announce the Titan X at GDC 2015

You still got an X79 rig to test that hypothesis Kaap, because i can't see how even with the lower clocks the efficiency of HW-E wont either even it out or actually offer more performance. What do i know though, never ran 4 cards and only ever used X79 :(

Gregster has helped out here without realising it

The other day he ran a 290X @1200/1500 on his 3930k @4.4 on Firestrike ultra.

So I used the same settings on X99 with a single 290X and this is the comparison, there is very little difference in graphics scores.

I also need to point out that I am using water and Greg is using air.

There is no huge magic advantage to using X99 but there is one massive disadvantage, X99 is nowhere near as good at overclocking as SB-E.

Question kapp not switched by rampageV on yet but should I update the bios?

Rampage V should be ok

The problem I got the other day was trying to fit a GTX 960 in my 3960X system running a very old bios and it was a total non starter. So I put the card in my 4930k system and it ran with no problems at all.

you only have to read the CPU thread to realise what others think, DDR 4 right now isn't worth it...... but later on maybe

even so, i'm still thinking of switching to DDR4, but it'll deffo be another SOC-Force....why? because i'm not getting 2 Titans, so i've extra money to blow.......or the 390X

i'll need to open a thread over there so we can discuss this in detail...........the X99 DDR4 will have to be a good overclocker or i wont bother, but i dont know if this Skylake fits my existing socket, so there's quite a few options here.

but first lets sort out which card to buy;)

For one card no but with 4 cards at lower resolutions X99 really bottlenecks my cards.

Heaven 4 @1080p for example is awful with 4 x 980s on X99 where the bottleneck costs me about 1000 points.

No offence - no sane person would run quad sli at low res :p

Benching is different

Mal you crack me up :D brilliant.

yea :D:D but you see what you can do if you try.....it works like magic, and Megahalems is lapped and polished too, i love fooling around and building stuff.

these mods make a massive difference to your temps...... but it's a lot of work to get the base ``true`` flat to the CPU.

Funny enough I was looking at anands 5960X review last night, the Bioshock Infinite numbers were shocking.
