Hi,
Bit of a noob question. I'm looking to upgrade my RAM after finding out my Kingston PXD316G1866C9K won't run at its spec'd speed of 1866Mhz. I can boot but stability tests on OCCT always fail. Always pass when I ran the RAM is at 1600Mhz.

I've dialed in all the RAM timings, 9-11-9-27 Command Rate 1 @ 1.65v.

Mobo page:

My question (finally getting around to it) does my Mobo support this higher speed or are my RAM sticks done. If they are, are their any limitations I need to be aware of when buying new RAM.

I've been looking at these:

Thanks :)

I'm sure you can get the ram you have running at 1866, is your CPU overclocked? And how many sticks of ram are you using?

Have you tried just using the XMP profile for the ram?

Try dropping the command rate to 2 and test again.

2 x 8Gb sticks. I will try the XMP profile tonight to see if it actually runs at 1866. I will also try changing the command rate (not overly sure what the command rate does) Yeah the CPU is clocked to 4.4 @ 1.8v but it's very stable and I get the same crashes during testing without the overclock. Thanks!

download/extract the bios to a usb memory stick then reboot into the bios and point qflash to the bios file and update it

then re enter any oc/bios settings

you'll be 100% safe aslong as you flash through qflash, those boards have dual bios's anyway which kick in to recover should things go wrong

Hi guys,

So I flashed the BIOS ok but issue still persists. Even when using the XMP profile and not tweaking any other settings the tests still fail. Either there is an issue with OCCT or with the RAM itself. I don't mind running it at 1600 as I don't notice the difference and I think i've ran out of options other than to try new RAM.

Try using one stick at a time in each memory slot, you may find one of the sticks is faulty.
