Hello All! :D

I have seen barely any un-boxings or reviews of this chair so i thought id do my best for you guys!

Nice sized basic box. No design on the box, just a basic logo on the sides.

==================================================

No real thrills in the box. No real sheeting on the top as pictured. No real complaints here. Would be nice to see a sheet of polystyrene or something for even i tiny bit of protection. But ah well.

==================================================

Small box can be seen in the box there, lets open that up first.

==================================================

Some plastic fittings which i forgot to picture for you guys! (Sorry!) Mainly the central piston protector, and covers for the brackets on the sides of the chair. There is also the main actuator lever on this box, along with the actual piston itself.
Also included rather strangely is a pair of what feels like cotton gloves! That is something i really didn't expect. There is also the expected allan keys, and a pair of long bolts. (These make another appearance later on as you would expect)

Instructions are also found in this box in a rather unconventional format. (Still decent enough to be able to follow easily.)

==================================================

The neck and back support chairs can be found in the box beside the chair.

SAM_4473_zps458b98db.jpg

==================================================

The main seat is lifted out of the box in pretty much one piece. The only thing to attach being the base and the backrest.

==================================================

There is a thin sheet of dense polystyrene between the base of the chair and the backrest. (I would have liked to see another in the top of the box as mentioned above.

SAM_4476_zps2c27203e.jpg

==================================================

Backrest comes in a nice bag to protect it further from the parts on the bottom of the seat which is on top of it during storage.

==================================================

Final thing in the box is the five footed stand. Pretty standard [aluminium?] stand.

Basic no thrills plastic wheels included in the small box opened previously.

==================================================

Moving on, i decided to attach the backrest to the seat itself, so first things first we need to remove the screws that are pre-installed into the sides of the backrest. I was a little disappointed at the quality of the cutout around the screw holes (Pictured below), but these parts are covered entirely by the brackets and their respective covers.
Nothing really to it when attaching these two, sections as it is really simple to do so.

==================================================

Once the two parts are assembled by the 4 screws that are again pre-installed into the chair. The next thing to do is to simply attach the covers for these unsightly brackets.

I had some real issues getting one of the screws in. It seemed to be too thick, but after a bit of force, it was clear that it was just paint in the threads. Not the end of the world.
**NOTE! When installing these two covers, the screw will not stop as there is nothing for it to contact in the chair itself. So it will just keep going in until it breaks the plastic! You merely need to tighten until it comes in contact with the plastic, and then one rotation more.**

==================================================

Four pre-installed screws and some plastic covers later (Installed with the two black screws that came in the small box), and the main chair is pretty much assembled.

==================================================

Attaching the base is simple enough also, the four screws needed are pre-installed into the base of the chair. Allowing for quick installation, as you do not need to hunt for them. These went in very easily and tightened nicely to the base.

==================================================

That's it! At this point the chair is complete! The cushions can be attached to the headrest and the lower back nice and easily. The top cushion merely attaches over the top of the headrest by stretching the elastic over the top. The elastic will stretch quite far, so no need to worry about it snapping when you put it over the headrest. Fits nice and tight and isn't really moving with general use.

SAM_4495_zps939134aa.jpg

==================================================

The chair lies back practically FLAT. This chair is also nice and stable, even at these angles! I was able to lay back and relax, and had plenty of confidence in the chair not to throw me off the back.

==================================================

Arms are adjustable both vertically and horizontally. Vertical adjustments can be made by pressing in the buttons found on the side of the armrests.

Below is minimum and maximum heights for the arms. (Min then Max)

Backrest will mount going through the holes on the headrest area, and through between the backrest and the chair, by just pushing the clip though.

==================================================

I will post a review of the chair once i have had some game time in it. If it is worth anything, while writing this, the chair is very comfortable, and is not very itchy on bare legs. (I'm in my Dressing Gown, So what!?)

If you guys have any questions about this, feel free to ask, and i will do my best to reply.

Thanks for reading!

Nice review, I recently made cheap version of these , I bought a bucket seat and made a mounting plate for it to fit onto my existing office chair base (which is perfectly fine and also has a tilt function) alls I need now is to make armrests. overall it cost me around £40 to upgrade

So i thought i would revisit this and let you guys know what im feeling a little further down the line.

So far, i have found a few small things that i dont really like, and wouldn't expect to see when spending this much on a char.

I found that when re-adjusting the head pillow, the damn thing snappe din my hand! I wasnt stressing the stitch too much but it went and snapped on me. A few staples later and its good as new. Probably a one off manufacture fault.

------

Something else i found, was that i somehow cracked the arm of the chair. I though the plastic was coming apart at the seam until i got my camera there and took a snap, to realise it was actually cracked!

20150314_0146161_zpslxoqjqqg.jpg

-------

I also found that the fabric on the bottom front side of the seat, seems to be loose, where there should be a stitch or two to keep it flat.
The other side is normal

Bad side

Good side

Thats all the problems i have found. I'm loving the chair so far.

I recently had to do a 48 hour grind in the thing, as all the things broke. But i was comfortable the whole time. The chair didn't get itchy, sweaty, nothing. Loved it.

If, like me you play in shorts, you may find that the fabric is a little itchy on bare skin. But its not bad. I've had much worse.

Id give this chair a 8/10. Ive had a few small problems as outlined above. But overall i love the chair. Really comfortable, and big problems at all.

Great review but the problems you have come across especially the cracks on the arm rest shouldn't happen on a chair that cost as much as these do, can you not return the chair for a replacement?

I am slim 6ft. So i don't know why the thing cracked. It looks like a impact rather than a stress crack. So god knows what happened to it.

I could probably replace the chair for a new one. But the problems are too minute for me to really care. These problems are nit-picking a little. Otherwise i would probably be able to get a replacement.

If anything else develops a fault i will try get a replacement. Its not worth it at this time imo.

For £200, I would expect a lot better than what you've got. Some of your problems seem to come down to poor craftsmanship when working with the fabric, such as the poor stitching.

I like these because they dont have lumbar support in the back which I hate. Might buy one eventually.

Just a note
I found that when re-adjusting the head pillow, the damn thing snappe din my hand! I wasnt stressing the stitch too much but it went and snapped on me. A few paperclips later and its good as new. Probably a one off manufacture fault.

They look like staples. ;)

You really do expect better for "one of the world's premier gaming chair manufacturers" who are "producing the highest quality products that are available today"...

I've recently bought one of these chairs in black/ red.
I feel the chair is quite low and doesn't lift as high as I would have hoped. (I'm 6'4").
The arms wobble and can't be tightened due to the plastic covers on them which annoys the hell out of me. Also, after reading this thread, I see I didn't get the straps for the lumbar support cushion for your back (although I'm just off outside to salvage the box and check to make sure I didn't miss it.)

Chair is extremely comfortable, supports your neck and back as it should and you can sit for hours in the chair without feeling uncomfortable (apart from it being too low for me!) and I wear shorts while gaming and fabric is ok for me.

Would I recommend it? Not at the price I paid for it (£180). If it was £100, then grab it guys, but not at this price. Quality isn't as it should be for the moolah you have to pay to get it.....

Note: Apparently you can by an extended hyraulic for this chair. Have it ordered now, so hopefully the height problem won't be an issue now. I've contacted OC to ask them to send me the missing lumbar support cushion straps.... :)
