How/can i make my R9-290x work with my boards UEFI.
My last board had legacy so i had no problems. i have just RMA's one card and will be selling it when it comes back if i cant sort this out both are gone and al go nvidia

Come on AMD it's not like UEFI is new my old 7970's was ok so why are there new gen not working. its always one step forward and 2 back with AMD, the 290's are awesome card's but then you hit a silly problem like this. i have been a fan boy for a long time but it's getting harder to stay

Highly doubt this will be UEFI specific, I have one of the new gen cards in a UEFI board and it works without a problem.

it is, some do and some dont, what brand is your card. a lot of the aftermarket cards have custom bios that works fine with UEFI, i have a fully branded AMD card and not aftermarket in anyway

Isn't there an option in the BIOS to switch UEFI into legacy mode? Also they board do you have?

That just a fan profile chance
bios 1 quiet(hot), bios 2 loud(still hot):p

But the the kick of it i will try :) because you never know.

Don't quote me ( you can if you like) but I am sure I read it way way back when the 290X was first released, that although that switch is for Uber and quiet mode, it also does the UEFI to Legacy mode. My memory is shocking though, so I could well be wrong.

just tested and no :)
i think i need AMD Matt to pop up and tell me if AMD shipped any refrance cards with a UEFI bios and if so where can i get a copy.

And if no on the MM they go.

I did some searching to see if I was right and it appeared not but what people have done is flashed the BIOS on the GPU to a different one and this has worked. The card will be safe because it has a dual BIOS but you would need Matt to tell you what BIOS you need.

Sorry I can't help any further.

Sapphire reference cards.

Double checked the BIOS and I do seem to have an option for UEFI and Legacy.

Maybe your BIOS is newer and they've removed it? Or older and they added it in an update?

Where is the option i will have a go at looking for it.
Also i sent you a trust message. could you send me a copy of the bios from your card to try. just use GPUz to save the bios to you desktop then send it to me as an attachment on a email

My cards are 290s not 290Xs, so you probably don't want that BIOS!
I'll send it anyway though.

It's on the BIOS features screen underneath the 'CSM Support' option.
