nVidia announce the Titan X at GDC 2015

At the moment i can play 4k fine with no issues but i want somthing with more vram as im looking forward to playing gta 5 and future games at 4k without having to worry about maxing it out the vram.

But its quite tricky deciding on what the next purchase should be as crossfire was a pain to use (might be better now, hope so), where as sli and titans command a high premium specially for 12GB vram which probably wont get used much.

AMD could win a lot of people over if they do this right but i have somthing in the back of my head saying they wont.

Every little helps, on haswell tweaking/tuning stuff like cache clock, base clock and ram too shows some nice gains in benches.

I was chatting with HiVizMan in stoke about benching and certain OS's work really well with certain benches. The serious benchers have OS's with nothing but the basics on the drive for HWBot and switch in and out for each bench.

With the price of a 60GB SSD being so cheap, it isn't a bad move and saves a lot of point losing. I am far too lazy for that though and just bench with my bloated W8.1 :D

Seen Nick doing that on MLG bench threads for the bot, stripped out os such as xp. Viz and the missus really know their stuff, and two very helpful people as well.:)

Yer they do and are both really great people to boot. Viz is another of those funny talking South Africans though :p

Like Gregster I've picked up a cheap GPU so that I've got something to use in the interim between Titan X launch, so I won't be quite as wanting for a new GPU if launch is soon.

Got brand new Gigabyte 960 OC Mini-ITX on a deal and it came with The Witcher 3, plus 3 year warranty. Made the card work out at about £110. At that price the 960 is a solid budget option imho.

60fps ultra settings? :p

At low / medium quite possibly.

Will find out tomorrow :p

lol :D

In hindsight, I should have grabbed the 970 and seen what that was like but I wanted to try out Mantle, which I have done and I can see that DX12 is something to really make the CPU feel like a 2 gen jump without upgrading it. Mantle is a real plus for AMD cards and CPUs and they did well to show what a low end CPU can manage with a high end GPU.

Yeah I just wanted the cheapest card I could get as a stopgap. Witcher 3 coming with the 960 was the deal breaker. I was gonna buy that anyway so for me this card worked out at £110, for the performance VS power consumption that's not bad at all tbh

I see that NV boycott is working a charm boom:pEnjoy your purchase.

Haha :D

The Witcher 3 is a real plus as well and I am so looking forward to that.
