*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

i've just spoken with o2 to swap myself onto a temporary rolling sim only deal and they mentioned that the S6 Active is expected May/June time.

good to know its not delayed to far after the normal release. a 3500mha battery + waterproofing + that camera will make it pretty much the perfect android phone if you can live with the screen size.
With all the reported issues around the 810 this appears to be samsungs year to utterly dominate!

Samsung ad on google has now change to this...

Pre-order The Galaxy S6 - samsung.com‎
Adwww.samsung.com/uk/galaxys6/‎
In 2 days. 16MP Camera & Super Fast Charging. Find Out More.

So in 2 days time...depends how you take the advert but I would expect Thursday is the day the pre-order's go up. Worst case scenario is Friday.

Interested to see what price they settle on for the UK and if the free wireless charger is offered (Hopefully from more than just Samsung's own site) :p

There are only 3 photos there.

Where you say "they both look terrible" that is a blown up cropped portion of the first photo, not a single shot in its own right.

Nods and I was commenting on the comparison on both (rather quickly). In practice that 'looks terrible' one, is miles away and I'll never need to crop that on my phone. At closer range the crop looked better on the S6.

Is any one having a Note 4 or GS6 dilemma? I can't decide....

GS6 - UFS, better SoC, potentially better camera in the future, smaller form factor

Note 4 - probably cheaper, equal camera, I would much rather drop it than the GS6, stylus and very importantly - the battery!

I am in the exact same boat. My contract is due to expire and my old M7 has the well known purple haze issue (quality control / heat problem). I was all set to get the Note 4 but now this! Exactly the pros and cons you list are on my own mind, and I'm really wanting the bigger screen as I'm 6'5" with big hands and I consume a lot of media on my phone.

As you say the S6 has a better SoC and faster RAM, not to mention way faster UFS2 memory. That then leads me down the mental path of 'Well in that case the Note 5 is due at the end of the year and should have the best of both...' route, but then that means waiting with a broken camera phone and a brand new baby begging to be photographed lol

I might go S6 for now and then sell it to use the cash toward a Note 5 later. I hate choosing. :o

Got to agree, speakers are VERY low down on my requirements list.

Getting harassed by CPW as I signed up for updates. They're ringing me constantly, answered a few times but they won't tell me any details

Anyone else spoke to them?

IMO there are plenty of Blue Tooth speakers out there that can give the user some reasonable quality sound for not too many pounds.

I use a cheapy one for holiday and a £30 pill blue tooth speaker for the music in the garden, bedroom ect.

Had a think about the N5 but am worried it might go down the glass/metal route. Have you had a play with the S6 yet?

I'm in the same position. I want the S6 Edge, but if the Note 5 is going to be a bigger S6 Edge then I'll want that more.

Even though there's zero wrong with my Nexus 5, I don't know if I've got the restraint to wait until October-November. :(

Do we have an inidication of pre-orders? On a related matter, does anyone here use the 3 website much? Checking my bills, upgrades or other things - half the time the site simply breaks and says they're fixing it.

My upgrade will go green in two days :)

Not yet, it's coming to Liverpool's Samsung store soon so I'll go and have a hands-on and decide then. The Note 4 having plastic construction rather than a glass unibody is a big plus for me, but then I'd have insurance so not the end of the world really.

I know what you mean! To be fair I'm starting to wonder how much of this matters 'in real life'. Sure the benchmarks for the S6 are crazy good thanks to the 14nm SoC, DDR4 and UFS (and probably 'helped' by Samsung on pre-launch demo models), but we're surely at a point where real-world you can't tell much difference day to day.

I guess most of the UI improvements and camera updates will hit the Note 4 soon, and it's certainly not a slow device by any stretch. The most intense activity my phones generally experience i/o and filesystem wise is the occasional torrent download on the go, which even my old M7 does at speeds in excess of 8MB/sec so I can't see there being anything real-world between the N4 and S6.
