Friday is de-hairing day! The beard goes, and the legs will be shaved. And a leaner, slimmer*, faster**, fitter*** platypus will emerge from hibernation.

*I've lost 2 kilos this winter!
**I doubt it
***Done loads of core sports so hoping it will pay dividends!

Beard came off yesterday (despite complaining about it daily it took the Mrs 30 minutes to notice). Maybe legs at the weekend.

New bike position, better core, stable at 71kg (room to drop, but not vital). Feeling good about this summer.

I was just driving home from the bike shop (SS front wheel in for bearing replacement) when I thought of Blake's Jerusalem; 'Oh clouds unfold, bring me my chariot of fire'.

Summer. Bring it.

My Chinese carbon frame has just arrived, woot. I know everyone says this but the box is surprisingly light.

Might have a very quick look at it in work but I need to get it home to give it a proper look-over.

edit: It looks pretty awesome from the tiny amount I can see amongst all the packaging. Hopefully it will look as good when I get to look at it properly.

I want to see you carry it home on your bike!

Sorry I keep coming into this thread only to ask for opinions but I'm new to this buying a bike in bits thing.

I have some carbon handle bars that I don't want to use with the new frame as you're not supposed to put aero bars on them. Does anyone have any alloy handlebar recommendations for around £100?

what bars do you have at the moment? do you like the shape?

if so, look for the alloy equivalent. There are no "bests" with things like bars, they're personal choice

a lot of pros ride relatively cheap alloy bars...

I've never really seen the point of carbon bars to be honest, they don't even seem lighter than a good alloy one. I wouldn't have thought that they'd have any more affect on ride quality than padded bar tape either.

yeah.. alloy ones already weight nothing :o

Carbon for vibration absorption.

Personally I go for compact drop over normal as I have long legs and a short torso. I also prefer egro bars over continuous curve. That said, I'm not wedded to one or another; the SS has classic 3T bars that are neither ergo or compact.

Ones I use at the moment or have used and like;

FSA Omega Compact (two pairs in the garage if anyone wants them)
3T Ergonova Pro
Canyon H58 (only available with a full bike)

I think I'm going to move the bikes back into the house until I've taken a couple more steps to secure things...

Probably best, also depending on location/evil streak/viability do some 'home defence' stuff... Glass/nails on top of walls/fences where they're likely to climb over etc. I have previously been known to 'accidentally' use longer nails than needed when putting up fences... ;)

Brilliant news for me as they come pretty close to my home when they ride through Norfolk. I'm coming off nights but I should be back in plenty of time to get cleaned up and get a good spot somewhere. Now to plan the best viewing place or maybe I could get to see it in 2 places if I really put some thought into it.

No-where near me, unless I head to north Wales. Typical really as there were 2 stages near me last year and I didn't go... One finished right outside my parents house!

I've just recently bought the Joe Blow Sport II and it does the job very well. Easy to fit on and off and a couple of quick pumps and the pressure flies up no problems. The gauge is halfway up the cylinder so easy to read too.

One thing I struggle with mine is getting the end on the value, or more difficultly removing it (having to really TUG!) and air escaping... Probably technique not my pump

Not to hail the end of winter too soon, but i'm trying to decide between trying a women's electric razor or a safety razor out to see if they make leg shaving any easier. Any input?

 Summer riders  ;)

For a commuter?

And if its that good, give me the Cervelo and I'll wear a Sponsored by Asprilla top everywhere I go.

2nd in line ;)

plus my legs were tired today after leg day and massive quad pain so I'm not in the best of shapes..

But just think of THA QUAD GAINZ you'll get from riding SS! ;)

I DONT CARE THAT YOU LIVE IN THE ALPS NOW :mad:

:D:D:D

I've been in shorts for the last few weeks but so far I've not shaved anything. Kind of tempting as I used to shave but I've also enjoyed the lack of faff in not bothering :p

Still not in shorts here, thermal bibs in morning along with thermal jersey under my jacket... Have started normal tights in the afternoon and even normal jersey (under my jacket again) some evenings...

Yes! I'm counting down the days until the 30th. Can't wait to get out in the evenings. CAN. NOT. WAIT.

Nor me, although slightly concerned about my commute in the morning (7:15am) being in darkness again...

I'm again looking for long loop commutes home from work :D

Edit: Swinging by the LBS on my way home later to get my noise looked at... Saddle & rails seem secure and nothing rattling there.

Soooo my PlanetX inner tubes turned up today. The valves are mahoosive! I'm not sure they'll fit my bike :/

Anyone want to buy 11 of them if they dont ? :)

It was damn cold this morning (or I'm ill) but it's gone sunny and pretty warm now. Hopefully it'll stay that way between 4 and 6 so I can enjoy a long ride home (phrasing).

edit: My PX order turned up too. I best check the tubes I guess
