If Russell Brand and/or Steve Coogan appear on Top Gear I will get very cross, wag my finger, and then just not watch it. However, I will get my keyboard out and lambaste the BBC for their decision ;)

Joking aside I find those two absolutely unfunny.

Steve Coogan is a very funny man, but he is not suited to Top Gear.

I still think Guy Martin would work, even if Southerners can't understand him ;)
 
Actually thinking this through, if the unlikely event that Coogan was asked to present and then was allowed creative input into the show and not just present it would be a kick in the trousers the show needs.

Because the show NEEDS a change of cast, it just isn't a highlight of the week anymore, and I actually think it needs the guys to go to get back up to where it was 5 or 6 year ago.
Which was the out right best television show on domestic TV.

I can understand him fine, he just isn't the sort of personality that would work very well on TG really, if you've watched his shows you should understand he doesn't have much interest in doing the sort of thing TG is.

Hmm can't agree with that.

Think it would lose it's appeal a bit (to me atleast) if it had a change of cast. Sure I would still watch it.
 
surprised JC has'nt been training a protégé (yes i googled that word heh) just in case something like this ever happened, would someone with a very similar personalty actually work?

only person i can think of is Boris, we need a Tim nice but dim and also a car nut?
 
No to Jimmy Carr and Steve Coogan

Steve Coogan isn't funny, same for Jimmy Carr but i also think he's a ####

Top Gear works because of the personality May, Hammond and Clarkson have, they also gel so well together.

If you replace just one of them the whole thing no longer works as well, take Clarkson out and the whole thing is kaput.
IMO no one can replace him.

PS: Absolutely no to Chris Evens. He annoys me more than Jimmy.

Last time he presented on Top Gear he came over really well, I think it could work with him as lead presenter and then one of the others as the oaf/idiot, because there's no reason that character type has to be lead.

If Coogan was lead presenter he would bring a sort of maturity that May has along with humour/wit (which May does have), that could be combined with a oafish/crazy type to fill Clarksons void, and then somebody to replace Hammond, could even be a girl as long as they know their cars.

Steve Coogan, Rowan Atkinson and Jodie Kidd. There you go, would be an awesome show lol. Could also have Lenny Henry in one of the roles /shrug

Can you see Chris Evens engaging in that natural flowing banter, can you see those 3 taking the #### out of each other, winding each other up... can you see Chris taking the #### out of himself and it seem natural, believable?

I can't, its not natural to him, thats not who he is. yes. a bit up himself.
 
How about Rowan Atkinson?

1) Comical -check
2) Know's a lot about cars and crashes them a lot -check
3) Can make a car look badly designed just by getting in or out of it -check
4) Awkward ambassadorial skills -check
