With Titan X, Nvidia Has Now Introduced 4 Unanswered GPUs

Right ok, I did try but you won't drop it so let's discuss what AMD's flagship card can do. My favourite game (Elite Dangerous) and pretty much all I play at the mo (actually I am pretty hooked on it) and it has been released since December but we are now nearing the end of March and still no crissfire profile. Add in plenty of new games and the same scenario. Bought a nice new Freesync monitor to run on your 295x2? Hmmm seems that Freesync doesn't support Crossfire and no way to get it running at all when a 295x2 is detected. So where is your precious 295x2 in standing now?

Yer exactly...

What is crissfire, something for HBM

;)

How are you finding freesync?

My precious? Who do you think i am, Smeagle? How do titan x's fare with free sync?

One could argue that nvidia haven't released a product that matches the 295x2 performance pr price yet..

GTX970 SLI gets pretty close and has many more advantages for the little bit extra you have to pay, dual GPU cards and two separate ones are all the same to me. AMD needed a dual GPU card a lot more due to the state of their reference coolers.

So you made a comparison of a dual core card against a single core card and when I gave you a heads up of what is what, this is your defence?

Righto, I can't be bothered to stay off topic any further.

The 390 (non X) will be more of a competitor to the 980. Doubt you will see 380 performing close 980 levels. I imagine the 380 closer to 290x levels.

The 380x is going to be a 290x refresh apparently, just with higher clocks to be a better match for the 980.

At least that's what the rumours so far indicate anyway.

That would leave the 390 going up against a 980Ti that'll probably be launched by NV around the same time to take some of the talk / press away from AMD.

No you said nvidia have fired 4 times without amd firing back. I just asked if nvidia had countered the single card launched around the same time as the titan yet. No need to be so hurting. Gtx970 is nice till you realise the memory discombobulatiom.

AMD's falling behind in marketing not in card releases. Atm there is no category where AMD isn't a better buy than Nvidia except super high-end single cards (i.e. Titan X), but that will change in June.

The 960 is a mediocre card for a high price when you can just buy the 280x instead. The 970 has controversy surrounding it and isn't better than the 290x nor cheaper. The 980 is the only thing AMD can't handle but then you look at the price and see that you can almost get 290x CF for that. And ofc the Titan X, but that's just been out a week now, it's naive to expect an immediate response from AMD for that. They're fighting for their life, they can't be trigger happy with card releases. Don't think you know more about their business than them, let's be real here.

How many people buy >$500 cards anyway? Very few. Most of the market is made up by people using <$200 GPUs and in that section AMD more than competes in both price and performance so clearly that isn't the issue. More likely regional pricing discrepancies and a weaker marketing power is what's causing the losses. If AMD keeps launching solid cards at good prices and also addresses its image problems then we'll see them around for a long time yet.

I don't think it will ever change in June if AMD launch R9 390/390X at $699/$799/£599/£699 if pricelist leaked from Cebit turned true.

Yes 960 is a mediocre card for a high price but many people see same thing with 280X price but they not bothered to buy 280X when they can buy second hand 7970 at half or 1/3 price of 280X with similar performance. When AMD launched 285 last August, people laughed their ass off at very high price with only 2GB when people can buy GTX 970 or R9 290 at similar price instead. Rx 200 series was a disaster, very few people buy R9 290s. Over 5.3 million people bought and played on GTX 970 that is massive outnumbered Radeon R9 200 Series 1.44% 2,160,000 with all R9 270/270X/280/280X/285/290/290X/295X2 all combined accorded to Steam hardware stats I compiled below calculated with 150 million Steam players estimate.

There are many people owned >$500 graphic cards like GTX 980, GTX 780, GTX 780 Ti but what about $1000? Really very few people buy it, look at Titan, Titan Black, GTX 690 and probably 295X2 too as it cant tell how many people got it when AMD stupid marketing labelled it AMD Radeon R9 200 Series in drivers. Oh what about $3000? Really really very few 30,000 Titan Z owners still play games on steam. GTX 660,760 and 770 still going strong happy to stick with it, see no point upgrade to GTX 960. Same go with 7970 owners still happy play games as people see no point upgrade it to 280/280X/285 or upcoming 370/370X/375 with similar performance at insanely high price.

Millions probably will wait to upgrade in 2016 when Nvidia launch Pascal with HBM.

Very nice find Athlon (could you add the link for where you got that please) and that does clearly show where the majority look to buy (mid sector).

This surprised me: NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN 0.12% 180,000 - So 180,000 units sold on the original Titan and this clearly shows that we "Titan owners" are a very small minority with pretty much a tiny impact on the market.
