Seriously? That card has more memory than my PC - not saying I would not want it in my system but why choose this over a normal X? Is it the OC or just the numberness of it all?

It's because full double precision, XXX, 24GB VRAM (install windows and still have room for gaming) , Half-Life 3 confirmed and BFG back in the game.
