just after some thoughts on this chaps, the exhaust on the girlfriends fiesta has some pretty serious rust on it, mostly on the back box and some of the clamps. So much so that it looks like it'll need replacing. I've never encountered this on a modern car less than five years old.
Reckon it's worth taking up with ford when it comes to replace it in the very near future?

it doesn't surprise me tbh. my dad c max went rusty within 5 years. you can take it up with the if you can be bothered, but i would just replace it with something stainless, then it will never need replacing again.

I'd be far more inclined just to replace the damaged section on a fiesta for less than £100 than I would spending £400 on a cat back stainless exhaust.

Tbh I'd also leave the existing one alone until it either blows or really looks like it is about to fall off, unless of course you can poke a screwdriver through it already

How does your gf drive? if it's short journeys it's to be expected, longer ones however and the last forever, my old peugeot for example (which never does less than a 1hour journey) is still on it's original 8 year old exhaust.

i suppose it depends on how long you are keeping the car.

The mild steel exhaust on my Capri is currently about 18 years old and on it's 2nd car, but that's good going I reckon!
