Thanks. It's a piece of 40mm thick 40mm staves solid dark oak, rejected from someone's kitchen because it was cut incorrectly, so he was flogging it on Gumtree.

It measures 2000mm x 700mm and is plenty wide and deep enough for me. However if you want speakers and a printer on there, you may want a longer piece of wood, though the longer the wood the more support it will need.

Got a new desk in, have yet to fully get everything ready. But not bad for 95 quid. Packaging, instructions and labeling were unparalleled, and they even sent a bag of assorted screws extra, called spares.

What a great idea, may do the same when our attic has been converted! No way my current desk will get up there.
