Jeremy Clarkson suspended from BBC

As the poster said above though if this is the end of Top Gear then it is not the fault of the BBC it is the fault of Clarkson. I suspect that won't be the way it is spun though. I am sure Cameron will come out in his defence if he thinks it will garner him some popular support.

Always good to have your ignore list decisions validated.

How did you know if they are on ignore.

I've never understood why things like the apparent "slope", or "catch a *mumble* by the toe" racial slurs were allowed to be aired if they were that offensive. It's not like Top Gear is broadcast live, so if one of the presenters says something they "shouldn't" then why not cut it/reshoot the scene, rather than airing it anyway and then blaming the presenter when people complain?

The "slope" one got past the censors because it wasn't considered that bad a word in this country at the time, this was the first time anything had ever blown up over it.

And the *mumble* one was never aired, it was one of three takes and Clarkson decided not to use it because it wasn't obvious enough that he wasn't really saying the N word (in the version that aired he simply said "teacher").

Probably says more about you than him.

Most watched show on the planet...

oh well, it's the most watched show on the planet, guess he isn't a knob afterall.

The show is crap and the presenters are dull. In his case, he's also rude, arrogant, obnoxious and possibly even racist. Good riddins.

So... basically, as most people with an ounce of common sense realise, a bunch of busybodies and curtain-twitchers getting up in arms about nothing whatsoever...

Yeah man, dem "riddins"!

It's sad how many people don't realise the majority of him being a **** is an act - it gets people talking about (and watching) him and Top Gear.

How successful do you actually think Top Gear would be if it was 3 blokes in suits sat round a table talking sensibly about torque curves and NCAP ratings, with the occasional lap of a circuit thrown in?

He sold a huge chunk of his stake. I don't think he has much left at all.

What he did was sold the rights to the show for a share in its profits. So the BBC retain the rights to the name etc, but JC gets dividends (around 30%..he co-owned 40% of the show with one of the producers, who reported held a 30/10 split). The estimated value of which far outweighs his contract with the BBC which is a separate thing entirely.
