Jeremy Clarkson suspended from BBC

If he'd have been assaulted, the police would have been informed and JC would have been charged by now.

As it is, Clarkson hasn't even been fired. BBC have just chosen not to renew his contract.

I believe the assaulted individual has to press charges for the Police to take action.

Just because he didn't, does not mean he was not assaulted.

Well, I wasn't expecting to see Clarkson on TG again, but I was hoping they might be able to keep him on.

Damned shame.

I don't subscribe to the "treat him the same as everyone else" dogma. There's a greater good argument, and I don't think one such physical incident is necessarily enough to discount that.

Oh come now, the BBC have a well established history of overlooking hideous crimes. Is is too much to ask they overlook a minor scuffle?

In any event, my bet is that Clarky engineered the whole thing to get out of the BBC.

sure I have contempt for the BBC and have never payed a licence fee on principle, I'm talking about him and personal responsibility for his actions.

But yes I agree he prob did this on purpose, he inst stupid, he has prob been tapped up by sky, like i said I like the guy.

As much as you have to agree with the decision in the sense that if any of us did the same at work, we'd be sacked. You can't help but laugh that the BBC, who love to cover up their resident peados, are willing to make an example of Clarkson over a scuffle as if to say "yeah, we don't tolerate this kind of thing"

Idiots

So because they covered that incident that has forced them to change, change that everyone wanted throughout the BBC they are then damned because they do the right thing later? As a Fee payer I welcome them actually standing up to make the right calls now and admitting they handled the past wrong before.

Not true, police can press charges on the back of a complaint by anyone I believe. However, if the victim will not give a statement it makes the whole thing more or less pointless.

A&E did seema bit overkill though.

Has he actually been sakced? or they announced his contract will not be renewed?

As much as I would love to see JC on sky to I just can't see it. He has forever loved the idea of public broadcasting; he just hated the direction the BBC went.

Depends if the person wanted to press charges or anyone thought it was necessary to call the police. Assault is just 'unlawful violence', punching a mate on the arm could be classed as assault but doesn't been the police are called.

In this case the assault obviously wasn't that serious.

Given how the BBC were apparently looking for any reason to be shot of Clarkson, you'd have thought they'd have put pressure on the victim to report the assault if it actually happened.

How can anyone not read that statement and just hold up their hands and say what a **** head for blowing a nice job for not just himself but his friends and colleagues. Not just one member of the team suffered abuse from a bully and then he went sniveling to apologise.

He simply got too big for his boots.

Hes laughing all the way to the bank, the BBC has to justify the money they spend which is why Top Gear has such short series and a big company like Netflix and/or Sky would throw buckets of money at them for a Top Gear clone.

Oh dear I know you must be really hurting and your fragile little existence has come tumbling down but chin up life will go on.

Same could be said for the producer who was well enough to drive himself to A&E to get "checked out", no one goes to A&E over a single punch.

Rubbish. He went too far and he knows it. It is the right call and he is lucky he hasn't been done for assault.

But I guess fan boys are gonna fan boy :)
