Jeremy Clarkson suspended from BBC

I took that as a way of showing what a bumbling buffoon he is and playing up to the role?

It's like the furore over the truckers and prostitute thing - I mean it's clearly a joke... maybe I'm just simple.

The difference for me was that the truckers/prostitutes thing was at least funny.

Are people really that bothered if there is no more more Top gear, it's not the end of the world you know.

It's one of the few remaining decent things to watch on the BBC though. I pretty much only ever watch the BBC for Top Gear, Sherlock, some of Wimbledon, bits of the Olympics, and major football tournaments like the Euros and World Cup. The rest of their stuff is made up of cooking shows, period dramas, property programs, the news, etc, all of which is clearly not aimed at a man in their 20s.

I think it's pretty outrageous that I have to pay a TV licence for what probably amounts to less than an hour of TV viewing per week.

Couldn't the three of them start their own show? (obviously not call it Top gear) and have it broadcasted on any other than BBC channel?

Maybe im delusional,I'm not sure how these things work.

I do like Top gear,But Jeremy does seem big headed occasionally.

Good odds on this...

:p

Thats only if the P1 doesn't win the promised supercar race, and Jeremy becomes Jennifer.

Actually, that might allow the BBC to re-hire him, new name, new gender identification, new start...

We'll just have agree to disagree, which is fine by me. :)

Err, fine :).

I get what he's saying and it is fair. But I must admit I do find Clarkson et al. amusing and their humour although contentious pretty chuckle worthy. Yes it is daft prejudice based comedy but often prejudices are based on experiences or some form of truth? I guess that makes me a Neanderthal for enjoying it? I don't feel they are saying anything purposefully offensive just teetering on the edge of it but I must admit I do find it funny. Having been to Mexico I can accept and know that they are wrong (besides I love Mexican cooking!) But I can also appreciate where the stereotype comes from.

Right ok. You're making silly extremes here. Just because you enjoy Top Gear and find it funny does not make you a Neanderthal. I enjoy the show, but often really dislike segments of the show for example when they're talking like in the video of the Mexican clip, or there was a segment earlier in this season where they were talking and I found it really uncomfortable viewing. I still enjoy other aspects of the show, and find other aspects quite amusing.

Many will disagree with you on being purposefully offensive.

My view on Top Gear is that when they start these sort of conversations it refers back to what I said of Clarkson; 'white, middle ages, right wing, conservative', Many, and Hammond aren't that far behind. This sort of conversation are what I expect to hear in a village pub on an evening being had by a group of old fashioned men.

Anyway; each to their own.

I'm sure the other media outlets are loving this, the chance to (once again) have a pop at the BBC, and in Sky's case hopefully pick up Clarkson et al on silly money (half due to Clarkson's links at Sky and half because he brings a big audience with him).

Lol, at my place they'd hit me back, like grown men should do, basic instinct and all that. Not go running to mummy-beeb cos my wittle wip has been bwoken.

'men should do' ha...

Nobody ran to their mum over anything; and you're forgetting that it was Clarkson that essentially turned himself in to the BBC bosses.

Lol ok.

If you assault someone at work you should expect to be shown the door. Clarkson forced the beeb's hand on this one.
