I kind of agree with the writer of this article. JC was one of the few who does transcend generations. His (and by association his two friends) appeal to such a wide audience that the BBC will indeed rue the day they were forced to lose JC....I suspect that Danny Cohen though is gleefully smug right now.

Top Gear was one of the few BBC shows that our entire family gathered around to watch, talk about, look forward to and laugh together at. The only other one was Dr Who and that sadly is waning as our son grows and moves on to other things such as GoT and Arrow, which is ok for him and me, but not so much for the entire family as they don't hold the broader appeal.

The loss of JC from Top Gear is in our household being mourned, in fact the loss of JC is seen as the loss of TG regardless of who the BBC replace him with. It simply will never hold the same appeal.

And that is the real shame here.

They've only terminated the current contract....From recollection they haven't actually said 'you can no longer work on the BBC' ;)

As long as we can slap you back, I'm game! :D

Good bit of stress relief!

PS I don't think anyone is suggesting that it should be okay to "hit" anyone at work? Or at least not without repercussions. If we were allowed to hit people at work I'd go back to my old job in a flash to enjoy the moment!

No - I get to slap you about. I am JC in this. You're not allowed to slap me. This would be a one way working relationship skewed heavily in my favour.

They haven't even done that. They simply are not entering into negotiations for a new contract when the ones he currently has which expire Apr and Nov respectively expire.

JC hasn't actually been 'sacked' or had his contract terminated.

"James May @MrJamesMay - 21 hours ago
Reporters outside my house: if you're going to hang around on small streets with your car engines idling all day, don't buy a bloody diesel."

teehe

Agreed, Clarksons transgressions pale into comparison against Brand's/Ross's and they brought them back, so we may see a JC return too :)

Wow, really shows the mentality and sheer stupidity of some JC sympathizer!!

Yeah you're right, making tacky bad taste jokes/prank is WAY worse than talking to someone like a piece of **** and then committing an actual crime and physically assaulting them

Are you people actually being serious

Ohh and btw, I'm a massive Brand fan who hasn't missed a single Trews, however I thought what he did was crass and unkind and not funny in the slightest. Brand realized he had acted cruelly & disrespectfully, he made what I believe to be a sincere apology, something I might add that is rather extinct in all of JC's controversies

I don't know what to respond to first on this post.

Calling JC sympathizers blind and stupid and that he is worse than Brand?

Then go onto say that you are a massive Brand fan.

Then say that JC doesn't apologise.

LULWUT.
