290X Vs the Titan X bench tested

When the graphics gets intense it gets close to twice the 290x performance (e.g. 3Dmark11X, Uniengine heaven)

That is why the 390X is unlikely to embarrass the Titan, even with a die shrink not every generation is twice as fast as the previous, and the 290X is starting from a higher power higher heat lower efficiency GPU.

Yer, certainly is fast and is expensive. First impressions to me are "it's worth it" :)

That's good to hear! How are you finding it noise wise? People are saying it's pretty noisy.

I'm very tempted but it would be absolutely pointless for me at the moment on 1080p, when i get a decent 1440p monitor, i think i'll have to get one.. Hopefully the price would have dropped a little too!

Yer, it is quite noisy but it isn't hot and highest temps I have seen are 74c and that is with a sizable overclock. This is one of the drawbacks of reference coolers as well, and they will never be as quiet as a custom cooler. No coil whine though, so that's a real plus.

Conclusion
At 1440p spending nearly £1000 on a graphics card is sheer madness just for gaming? A £240 290X can play all the games no problem?

*Dives for cover...* :p
