Off to a stag in Budapest next month and helping to book a few things up. One thing we'd like to do is go to a decent restaurant on the Saturday night as we're all foodies. Any recommendations from anyone that's been there?

Also any other recommendations on other things to do would be grand. We've booked the classic beer bike for the first night and an escape game for the following morning. Thinking about a river cruise on the Sunday too, any recommendations on operators?

Thanks in advance!

Zeller Bistro. You WILL need to book if it's a weekend, I did my reservation via Facebook. It's not dead central but I used public transport to get to it.

Hotel Gellert baths. Was 2005 last time I was there but they one of the highlights of my visit

Statue park was crap (especially in march under several inches of ice at the time)

Hummus bar! There's one thats more of a proper restaurant rather than a takeaway joint. I'd definitely recommend it for at least a lunch.

Nightmare to find imo - plus it's closed on Sundays (and nothing on the Facebook page mentioned this! V. annoying)

I fly there soon (with the GF, not a stag do), also looking for restaurant recommendations :)

Can't recommend a dinner cruise enough thb - went about a month ago and it was amazing - food was great and the boat was fantastic!

Oh, not sure the Gellert baths is really a stag do activity but it's nice an relaxing! :)

Make sure you go and do a wine tasting experience. Hungry has some of the best wines in world try and get a hold of some Tokaji Aszú. I don't even like wine myself but I would drink this stuff, it's delicious.

I just streetviewed it and found the corresponding trolleybus and tube lines I needed to get to it - Budapest has a fantastic public transport system

just make sure you stamp the little paper tickets properly else the row of ticket inspection men at the exit will try to fine you

(yes it seems it is still cheaper to employ humans to do that job then fit a ticket barrier)

Get a 7 day travel card and then there is no need :)
