290X Vs the Titan X bench tested

Total War Attila run? Or is that benchmark tool crap like the others?

Sorry bud, I don't have the game :(

Conclusion
At 1440p spending nearly £1000 on a graphics card is sheer madness just for gaming? A £240 290X can play all the games no problem?

*Dives for cover...* :p

Haha, partly true and if you are happy to notch down the settings at 1440P on a 290X, you can use a single card for gaming with no problems :)

No bud SKhynix, Elpida and Samsung are the 3 main GDDR5 makers (not sure if anyone else does).

My Titans have Hynix ram.

It's not the bad stuff then...

One last thing as I'm using the MSI 290x gaming (non le).

What's your max stable core clock on stock volts?

Mines 1100.

Thanks and congrat's on the new card.

Elpida is the worsterest :D

My Max on stock volts was roughly the same as your iirc. I could get 1200Mhz on mine with the +165 but wasn't even close to game stable and would crash. 1150Mhz @ +165mV was my max with testing and this was 100% game stable. I didn't see the point of just trying to pass a bench run but knowing full well another time it would crash.

My MSI Gaming 4Gs all have Hynix.. To hot for my likeing even @ stock clocks.

Everything looks good apart from everyone was saying how SoM would need more RAM and that is the only one to see no benefit and within margin of error. Is it a synthetic bench in SoM or a play through? Would be interesting to see if it was actually smoother game play although the lack of gain in FPS.

On that note also I assume the min from A:I is due to the way the Bench runs.

I will be doing my video review very soon for the TX and SLI TXs, so will do some gameplay in SoM and a couple of others. As far as VRAM debates go, that is for another time but I did run out @ 1440P on the 290X in COD:AW and FarCry 4 with everything fully maxed.

Great Bench results Greg, I'm quite surprised the 290X does very well even at 1440p maxed. The TX looks ace though

The 290X holds up very well bud. A single TX does give me twice the performance of 2 original Titans though, so a decent worthwhile upgrade for me.

I still believe the TX is the perfect 1440p card and not a 4k card. For something to be a perfect card in my mind it has to be able to max settings and be a bit future proof and the TX can do all that. Im also impressed with the 290x but its not a 1440p card in my mindset but still a solid performer no doubt. Thanks for the results Greg.
