Well I'm sure a lot of money helps since not everyone can afford not to get a job or who has parents wealthy enough to support your dreams.
Having your daddy basically fund a record company for you also must be seen as a monumental advantage over everyone else trying to start out.
hard life really.... I feel her pain whist most people are practising in a garage if they are lucky she likely went straight into recording studios to practice and make her demos with the advice of various talented people and the financial backing of her parents
I'm imagining a PR company in there somewhere too paid for buy her parents
in between the 11 acre ranch, the summer home in new jersey and the private schools life must have been so tough.

So let me get this right you are saying that Taylor Swift will viewed as talented as Jimi Hendrix
And not resorting to sex to sell videos she barely half covered in any of them often seen in skimpy clothing, lingerie etc.
In a different way, yes. Hendrix is a an incredible guitarist and a song writer and performer. Swift in her own way is the same, just aim at a different demographic, and they are in a VERY different era of music. I mean in the age of people downloading music illegally, it is amazing how many records TS sold. Not sure if Hendrix would survive today and be as media savvy. There are loads if amazing guitarist today that gets nowhere because although they are great with the 6 string, they have little business sense. TS actually has that and had that from the young age, note the quitting Sony records move. She quit partly because she wanted her own music to be heard and not sing other people's songs.
In terms of longevity, that remains to be seen, but she's done quite well for a 25year old.

And that is personal opinion, not a fact. Nobody said she is the greatest singer anyway. Even I agree that isn't her strength. Her strength is having the looks, the song writing, the know how on how to act and put what she has to good use.
As for manufactured, proof it. I can proof otherwise she is not.

It is a fact, she must have been miming at your concert, because she can't sing without auto tune and studio. This is the same for all modern pop stars, i don't get why people think swift is any different.

Again, how does that translate to Grammy awards, sold out world tours and best selling artist for a decade?
There are plenty of artist on major labels with millions behind them in PR that gets nowhere or lasts nowhere as long.
Money does not automatically bring success, and more importantly, continued success.
She sold out Maddison Square Garden in 1 minute btw. No money from her dad can buy that. And that was like 8 years ago, bet nobody here has heard of her then.

I disagree. I think that a distinction can be made between someone wearing contemporary fashion and someone using overtly sexual visuals. But I'd struggle to take this debate further as I don't know much about contemporary pop music to make comparisons.
So you really think in 100 years people are going to compare Shake it All Out with Purple Haze as equivalent in their contribution to the progression of music.
She's successful, she got talent at what she does, she's well organised and media savvy but raw music talent she's not even in the same league. Sorry but Jimi Hendix inspired a generation of guitarists and every generation after. He re-wrote the technique and methods to play an instrument.
It's enough to like a performer without comparing your enjoyment (for whatever reason) with actual real music talent.
She has a poor vocal range, her intonation and actual pitch control are often poor, her tone has no real richness or vibrancy to it, non existent vibrato, etc. I have young kids I've had to see her way more than I'd like. If you can demonstrate to me where she demonstrates those sort of qualities then I'd be happy to agree because I've never seen her do that but I have seen great singers do that. As for her song-writing the writing again is catchy but simplistic there is no subtle or deep phrasing in there. She is popular she isn't that talented. Nothing wrong in that but there is in calling something it is quite clearly not.
it gives you a massive advantage though and you were trying to make it sound like she was some poor gal touring record stations and living out of a rental car when she was likely staying in nice hotels and having a ball of a time
loads of no talent people get prestigious awards and manage to stay in the spot light for years.

I said nothing about guitar technique, or her guitar tone (she plays acoustic mostly anyway and piano) but she is as good as Hendrix in the way she inspire people to play guitar and sing, granted, mostly to girls so us overclockers won't appreciate.
Disagree about her song writing, I've read the NY times called on previous album and compare it to Purple Rain! Yes, even I was gobsmacked. There are many critical praises on her song writing all over and actually everyone in the industry acknowledges it. It is not easy, actually VERY difficult to write a catchy pop song, else we would all be doing it.
All I think in 100 years, people might not even remember Hendrix or Swift, remember that girl who didn't know who McCartney was?
