Hey guys,

I'm looking to get a new TV cabinet and I'm looking for suggestions. I've a 55 inch panasonic plasma, a long with needing storage for Onkyo amp, Sky box, xbox, center speaker and HP microserver!

I'm looking at coffee table and bookcase from oak furniture land, and saw this cabinet in the same range -

I'm planning on wall mounting the tv eventually so can put the center speaker on top and then the server in the side cabinet. Any one see issues with cooling etc?

Any other suggestions welcome!

Seems awful big for something that will ultimately only house an amp, sky box and microserver. Personally i'd do the wall mounting at the same time and then go for something smaller.

Well also a center speaker and xbox. Mainly chose that one as I'm probably going to get a number of other pieces from that range for the lounge and this was the only tv cabinet that seem to do the job.

When I saw it in the showroom it didn't look big, width is about the same as the TV.

Haha one person says it's too big the other one two small.

I think anything much wider then it would be too big for the wall I'm using. I had a look at the long ikea cabinet (190cm) and it would take up most of the wall! The wall is only 2.4 metres long. My current table is 110cm and doesn't seem too bad with the balance. Problem is that the wires are all over the place and as I said am going to be buying some oak furniture for the rest of the room.

Would there be any cooling issues putting a microserver into the cupboard on the side of th cabinet? How much air does it need?

Have a gander in IKEA - way cheaper, loads of colour options and plenty of options to customise yourself in terms of taking the back out for cabling/handles/legs etc.

I have the coffee table in this range and I also thought the size didn't look too big when viewed in store, but get it home and it looks much larger.
If you have the room then no problem, but your room could shrink once kitted out with other pieces. Perhaps place something with the same dimensions, where you intend to put the cabinet and see for yourself.

Got a 55'' Pana Plasma, Zensor center channel, freeview box, Full size AV receiver and blu ray player on the John Lewis £99 black glass stand. It's the widest one in their own range and is solid as for the price and will hold big items.

A classic problem with furniture and one we have taken to getting round by making outline of new purchases in news paper and putting them in position before purchase! Saved us from a horrendously oversized sofa set which seemed fine when viewed in store and still seemed alright when we measured it out but once the big blobs of paper were I place it was an obvious no!.
