High demand for Titan X exceed supply

It's a nice card and clearly has a market, but I upgraded my whole system (bar graphics card but including a G-Sync monitor) for less than that.

And if I were to spend that amount I'd want more than just performance, I'd also want pure luxury, all the stops pulled out, LED's, backplates etc. Every Titan would have to be like an MSI Lightning or ASUS ROG edition card.

Wait so you are telling me that only true enthusiasts can be so by buying a Titan X?

It's not me being insulting Greg.

And whether you like it or not that's exactly what you are doing.

Where on earth have I said anything of the sort? You told Africanos that he wasn't allowed to use "Enthusiasts" for Titan X buyers.

Please don't use the enthusiast moniker. That's really insulting to other true enthusiasts who can't afford the ticket price.

And now I am insulting people because?

I agree but it is incredibly tempting. I'm giving it serious consideration and swapping out 2 x Twin Frozr 290x's for it. I really think AMD are on the way out, regardless of how well the 390x performs. The drivers not being released for 3 months, not even supporting some AAA games or CF profiles whilst nvidia ran riot with the 900 series all the while they were cutting R&D whilst nvidia pull out the titan. Even if Samsung bought them they'd have to operate at a minimal profit margin just to gain some market share back.

Sadly as good as nvidia cards are the pricier they will get with no competition. Bitter sweet for the consumer hence why I think titans will sell by the lorry load because whilst I understand PC building is never future proof, the longevity of a titan x will outstrip any other card on the market in the future when you factor in rising prices each generation

If nvidia have indeed managed to find a market for this card then good for them. As long as it doesn't have an effect on the pricing of the future equivalents of high end cards like the 980 then I think I'll be happy.

You told Africanos that he wasn't allowed to use "Enthusiasts" for Titan X buyers.

No he didn't, that was your interpretation of what actually happened:

Those are impulse buyers or as "WE" like to say "enthusiasts" or "graphic card aficionados"

(you are looking at one of them ;))

Please don't use the enthusiast moniker. That's really insulting to other true enthusiasts who can't afford the ticket price.

Every one who posts on this forum is an enthusiast.

Africanos imho is one of the good guys, but I don't think for a minute he realised the implications of what he wrote, 100% behind andy here, it is an insult to enthusiasts, enthusiasts aren't only TX users.

Regardless what anyone owns in here, having bigger pockets doesn't make them any more an enthusiast than anyone else that rips components to bits to make their rigs.:)

Then it went full pigeon chest Pete Tong mode in here, you are all Titan owners after all, chill out lads and lets see some group hugs(I'll join in to share the love:p) and move on and get your great thread back on track.:)

You don't personally justify the performance and build quality for 1000 bucks good on you (dont buy it) - I could care less as it performs very well for me.

You said earlier that's why you got a third Titan Black, nobody is peskying you on if/why that's a bad move (or why you paid full price on launch for the first two) - It's your choice good on you and enjoy..

"WE" as in people that upgrade their GPUs. Most can actually avoid an upgrade (why not lower settings more? or your native resolution) yet it still is an "impulse buy" in a way when upgrading.

This has nothing to do with TX owners as I have a very nice GT640 sitting here with DDR3 that works just fine for what I need it to do on my i3 build and most of my hours are spent on a lappy anyway (very limited time on my gaming only rig if Im lucky).

If every one who bought a mid ranged card posted about it the forums would crash.

No he didn't, that was your interpretation of what actually happened:

Give it a rest. It is clear what he said and you are the one reading it how you like (as per usual) :o

I respect what everyone buys and that is that and I never feel the need to mock or berate their choice. I consider people who tinker, whether it be with an old PC or a new PC to be an enthusiast and I get irritated when people get judged. If people don't like what people spend on an enthusiast forum, then this isn't the place for them.

Now I suggest we move on?

:(Nice one greg, way to go, I tried to be helpful and diffuse the situation, and you take that out of context too:confused:, never mind then, and I'll leave the conversation, I'll point you back to your insult directed at me:

As you clearly didn't want to drop it, so tell me how that reads any other way?

No one said the ticket price to be called an enthusiast was a grand, africanos was just commenting on people who change hardware often and/or impulse buy, price wasn't mentioned

Its irrelevant, if PC hardware is your main hobby it really doesn't matter

Equally, telling someone else they are mental for spending a grand on PC hardware is insulting, particularly on an enthusiasts forum where some people wanting new shiny things is to be expected, this should be the one place where people get a polite "good on you, hope you enjoy it" instead of people talking about needing floor tiles instead or whatever it is

Please read my op objectively from a neutral pov, instead of your pov.

Andy didn't say that Africanos wasn't allowed to use "Enthusiasts" for Titan X buyers,(you read it that way) you said he did, then it escalated, calm down greg sometimes we get drawn in, we have plenty times:o, it wasn't an attack on yourself:) difference of opinions that's all.

TX thread, most can only dream of owning this card, this is their dream card.

TX's threads are full of rightly so ecstatic proud owners with their dream cards informing the masses, but again:

Those are impulse buyers or as "WE"(TX owners) like to say "enthusiasts" or "graphic card aficionados"

(you are looking at one of them ;))

Loud and clear, and greg should have read what he said instead of going on the offensive against andy, I said what I interpreted, if anyone disagrees then fair play.

I agree, but again, as andy pointed out, he wasn't insulting anyone here, you purchase their cards, should listen when he clearly states his words are directed at Nvidia, not anyone here.

people talking about needing floor tiles instead or whatever it is
(And there you were pointing out insulting.:o)

As above, if I wanted to purchase TX or two I would, but my setup=TX, I could fit a pool at my Tuscany home for that money, you mad bro?:p

I think its my signature image that's at fault, It's really annoying even me now ... :D

I stopped putting system specs in my signature years ago.

Having said that on Guru3d I have a couple of HD 5970s listed in my signature and people even moan about that.

I bring up the age old but can it run Crysis?

TX can not run Crysis 3 @ 4k so it's still not good enough.

I don't have any problem running Crysis 3 maxed @2160p.:p

Just ran this @2160p totally maxed.

Crysis 3 opening part of the game from standing in the rain to getting inside the first building.

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
6704, 88406, 38, 104, 75.832

I don't mind admitting I was wound up. An enthusiast forum for enthusiasts but getting told that people who post pics are rubbing the less fortunates noses in it did wind me up.

Ohhh and no matter how many time I have read it, it clearly does say that Titan X owners are not allowed the enthusiast moniker!

Its a completely pointless comparison, this is a PC hardware forum, bragging about a holiday home is irrelevant (and no, I'm not mad, you are bragging at completely the wrong person lol)

What is funny about Andy's comments is that he also got completely out of his tree about the original titans and then wound up buying them anyway

Not to mention only a few weeks ago was full on attacking anyone who dared mention the price of the TX as poor, etc.
I'll have to be careful, not allowed to post anything critical as i'll get suspended. The mods seem to be taking RTMs seriously without any context to the reported post.
