Hey there,

Just in the middle of building new PC and have one of these Raijintek Triton's and was wondering if anyone could tell me why of the brackets go on the back. Is it the one with the padding or the one without the padding.. Sorry but these instructions are pretty poor, hard to tell which is the right one for the back of the mobo.

Cheers in advance.

The one with the padding is the backplate, padding side to the motherboard.

Just installed one myself, absolutely awesome cooler!

Yeah haha I figured it out in the end, just one more thing, you know the erm bolts that go inbetween, does the flat end face outwards or does the hollow inset face outwards? If you know what I mean, there's 2 different sides to the bolt. I mean nut. Also where do I put those plastic washers.

Doesn't matter, it gets screwed both ends.

Washer goes between the nut and the mobo, shows you in picture 2 of the instructions.

Just couldn't make it out if it was above or below, seems I'm having an issue to this Triton as well as the case. Just not my luck, feel so sad. This Triton seems to be running really really hot. Went into BIOS and set everything as Load optomised defaults or what ever it's called and installed windows fully (took ages) Slapped some my apps on and thought ok i'll prime and see how it seems, and wow it shot up to near 100c, i shut prime of straight away.

Do you think there's something wrong with this thing..?

I'm going to try reseating it tomorrow, been at this thing all day and need my bed, so pzzzd off.

:(

Does sound like it needs reseating. I'm running mine with a couple of case fans and the performance is outstanding.
My X5650 (overclocked to 4.4Ghz) at idle is registering 28 31 25 26 26 29, and running Cinebench 60 61 55 52 59 59.

Is your pump running at the full 12V?
What speed have you set the fans to run at?

Sorry not been on to reply. I have reseated the thing and it's still the same, I have it plugged into the CPU Fan header on the mobo, not a clue about the full 12volt option. I the bios I have it set to Full Speed for the CPU Fan. I have the fans on the rad plugged into the fan controller and they are going full max speed and tried the rad fans on slower speed and there not much difference tbh in temps.

Do you have enough thermal paste on there? and are you 100% it's actually in contact with the CPU? It sounds like nothing is even touching the chip if it shoots straight up to 100c?

Yeah, when I was reseating it, the pea sized blob of IC diamond was nicely spread over the CPU and cooler. Just ran cinebench cpu test and the temps never went above 50 on hottest core and lowest core never budged from 45c. Is that normal/ok?

That's fine. Yeah, that's perfectly acceptable!! I would be very happy with them temps, you have nothing to worry about

Thanks, just as a retest I grabbed prime95 again and tried it just now and the same temps around 50 @3999 ghz. Ok I'm happy now, I was proper stressing the other night.

Just need create a new thread in the OC section for a stable overclock settings.

I've seen people use asus real bench a lot more now, gives off better temps, i use this too. Every chip is different, no two will be the same, it's trial and error!
