So i just put a deposit down on a 350z
this one on ebay to be exact: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131461781777?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

can any one tell me what spec it is? i think its GT based on the wheels.. but im sure other things are involved as well also presuming this is the DE engine?

any info on the car in general is great i did have a look at the 350z forum but seems full of banter not useful information.

thanks in advanced.

Yes it's a GT spec with the Rays alloys, heated leather, cruise control, etc, and yes it's the DE engine. The exhaust looks aftermarket to me, but no idea what brand.

Not to sound deliberately condescending but I think you should have been a bit more thorough in your research before buying such a car :p

350Z UK forum actually has a lot of useful info on it...take time to look through the various sub forums for all manner of things.

Check the 'full' service history is indeed full, and that it hasnt missed things like P3 services. If it hasn't had a clutch/flywheel change in its life, then I'd budget £900-1000 fitted for that in the near future.

Enjoy it.

thats what i thought, i have read all sorts on these and my friend has 1 also, i have no issues with changing clutch ( i see the flywheel and clutch for £300 ish for an exady one) and fly wheel my self, or doing valve clearances or rebuilds although id rather not im more then able to do that kinda work.

im not sure if the de uses oil? or if thats the HR?

is the price i paid reasonable? the guy didn't budge but is delivering it 200 miles

Leigh, if you do buy it, make an appointment with the cougar store (Mitz is the owner) in leicester and ask them to give it a once over for you. Its on your drive back home going from your location.

I'm not entirely sure on a 'normal' level of oil use for these, but it shouldnt be drinking the stuff or I'd suspect something is quite wrong.

I couldn't really comment much on the price without seeing it myself. I paid £950 more for one with 86k miles, in good condition and with extras like the wheels recently refurbed (£300), Horsham remap and associated kit (~£1175), recent clutch and flywheel change (£900+), pioneer head unit (£230) and a few other bits and bobs like zunsport grille, front lip, stubby ariel etc.

But if its in good nick and has been looked after then really it's not a bad price I'd say.

my celica uses a tiny bit of oil being a high rev engine and read similar about the 350 but not sure if its just on the HR engine. I dont drive daily so its more of a toy for me im unlikely to remap it but what kind of power can you get from a remap and is anything else required e.g ecu? stubby ariel and a spoiler are on my list

The Horsham Developments remap essentially comes alongside fitting berk high flow cats, new air filter and a plenum spacer. I don't think there's much to be had with just a remap alone, but someone more wise may come along and confirm this. Obviously it will vary from car to car and somewhat on the conditions but some cars may get up to near 'Rev-Up' levels of bhp, so in the 290's.

Weve had a DE and a HR neither has ever used any oil. The revup engines are known to use oil but they were 2006 only so no need to worry about that. If its burning oil id be worried.

As stated Cougar Store is where I take ours and even if I left Leicester theyd still be getting my business, Mitz and Andy are top guys. Good excuse for a drive :)

Clarksons right generally need supporting mods to see the benefit from a remap and even then some people say they notice no difference and others think the car drives better - very subjective from what ive read. Its a lovely car as it stands, never felt the need to mess with it, other than the obligatory stubby!

Still really fancy one of these but when I was looking they were sitting round the 8-9k mark and the 13 or so I looked at had each been crash damaged in some way or were missing service history - so I spent less than half that on my RX8.

The one linked to looks in really good, clean, shape and reasonably priced too.

I've been tempted to take mine to Cougar store as I will be moving in that direction in the coming few months, heard a lot of good things. What is their pricing like (sorry to totally thread hijack!)

Car looks tidy and almost identical to mine only 6 months younger, as below it is a GT and it should not be using oil. Mine gets serious abuse and never uses more than half a dipstick worth between oil changes (~7k). Also given that still has the original early Bose stereo in I can almost guarantee it will skip when cold with CDs - I have yet to see one that didn't

Also someone has changed the brakes for aftermarket disks, not a problem just worth noting! Also the exhaust is not standard, again something that is well worth changing anyway - the original system is fairly junk (esp the middle section which is braided and often fails) and a better aftermarket one sounds great! Looks like it is a split two box system, can't really tell which one although it probably doesn't really matter!

Why do people put deposits down on cars before they even know what spec they are

Yeah, I thought it was going to be an april fools at first. Why would anybody buy anything without knowing the specs

I think theyre pricing is generally pretty reasonable, inline with a specialist indy but in all fairness they are meticulous with looking after our cars and know their stuff particularly with Zeds and are honest with their assessments. When our old zed was written off they took the car in for us and sorted out various bits and gave us a lot of good advice for the process.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone but particularly a Zed driver :).

Possibly a japspeed K1 exhaust?

Unreal, where in Brum are you?
I moved near Solihull a few months ago. Working at JLR now.

I think you are correct with the Japspeed brand but I dont think its a K1, it looks more like their newer K4 but probably an earlier version?

Unfortunately Japspeed are the cheapest of cheap in regards to exhaust options for the 350z but at least someone else took the hit for you!
