Car wash conundrum

Hi everyone,

my friend owns a hand car wash and wants to count how many cars come in. I was looking at the ANPR route but it seems incredibly expensive.

Does anyone know of a company, software or system he could use?

The vehicles have to go one way around a car park so a simple sensor of some kind buried in the floor perhaps?

Thanks in advance & happy easter :)

Sophisticated enough to want an automated system yet not sophisticated enough to be recording how many cars are being washed per day for accountancy.

Right then.

Pen and paper, 5 bar gate. Sorted.

EDIT: Use a white board on the wall instead of paper.

Maybe he has people working for him and wants to know if the workers are putting all the takings on paper

I'm a bit confused. Do these people not pay? How does the system work? Is he suspecting some workers pocketing fees?

I assume it's a cash business, and the owner isn't there all the time. Easy for the staff to pocket some...

Simple laser at car height would do it without digging anything up surely?

The problem is that it is likely to be activated by people on foot, and would provide a get out for the operatives if they object was to prevent pilferage.

"Dunno guv, think a few kids might have walked across the forecourt earlier and put the count up"

Think it needs an induction loop in the floor if its going to be reliable http://www.theelectricgateshop.co.uk/Product-1230/
