Good news now let's hope that motorway speed limit for cars gets increased to around 85mph legally. :)

This is great news, should speed up the commute slightly.

What they really need to do is announce nationally! that NSL single carriageway roads are 60 for cars not 50 like most seem to believe.

Now the same as van speed limits on single and dual... Surely those should be raised to match car limits now!

No point surely? I can't remember the last time I saw a van adhere to its lower limit, they're normally tailgating me when I have the audacity to drive at the limit for a car in front of them :p

"Van" is also quite a broad term, ranging from city cars with no back seats all the way up to large vehicle most people would refer to as trucks.

This is good news! it's seemed it was only supermarket trucks sticking to the 40mph limit but I always seemed to find one on my drive home

I really hope it doesn't.

So many bad drivers out there. I'm not saying that people going over 70 are bad drivers. But there are a ton of terrible drivers that I barely trust doing 60.

Car derived vans like the Fiesta and Astravan etc. already have the same limit as cars, it's only dedicated van chassis vans that are subjected to lower limits.

They will be letting you in the fast lane next!

///must resist urge to hunt delta0 down and murder him///

theres no such thing as the ruddy fast lane!!!!!!!!! its lane 1/2/3/4/...... your choice of lane should be lane1 unless you are overtaking another vehicle

///rant over///

how does that work for vans that have then had a car version built based on said van?

I knew someone would bite. :D

Van limits for the van, car for the car I think, but I only really investigated as far as the vans I have had to drive, don't think there is much about that was originally designed as a van and then converted to a car, the Ford Tourneo being the only one popping into my head.

There is a load of technicalities surrounding windows and seats that can determine what limit a van is meant to stick to as well but again, didn't pay huge amounts of attention as it didn't affect anything I needed to drive.
