Centreparcs Cumbria - Anyone been?

Cool, cheers. So what about midweek when you want to go and get the car and heat out of the complex, can you just toddle down to the car, jump in it and drive out or is there a check out/check back in procedure that you need to go through?

You can just drive out. They'll give you a sticker for the back of the rear-view mirror which security use just to see you're legit when you come back.

you get a sticker at check-in for the car. Stick it on rear-view is what we usually do.
We tend to go up early in the morning. dump the car, go swimming, get a bite to eat then its time to get the car. OH & kids walk to lodge while muggins takes the long walk to the car.

Been to whinfell about 8 times now. Kids love the pool.
From memory Orange/Tmobile have best signal for data, O2 was crap.

You can come and go as you please by car but you'll only be able to access the main car park which depending on where your house is could be a fair trek :)

Officially there's a check in/out, but we've even had visitors come see us without being challenged.

Good stuff, well I'm more than likely only going to need to drive out of the park once to head for Whinlatter and since it is the MTB trails I'll be heading for I'll just cycle from the lodge to the car on the day I decide to go as I'll obviously be taking the bike with me. We've also got a kids bike trailer buggy sorted out that I'm borrowing from a friend so as long as the weather is reasonable we should be able to get about the complex ok. Not sure what location our accommodation is at, as I said it is the 'New style Woodland Lodge' but I can't see anything on the email booking confirmation to indicate where we will be staying on the map, I assume you don't find out until you arrive (we didn't specify any particular area during the booking process).

Blatant thread bumpage, we're off first thing tomorrow morning and very much looking forward to it despite the weather forecast not being great. Full review will be posted upon my return.

What is it with women and packing? I think my missus thinks we have an Arctic lorry and not an SUV!!! :p

Bit of a thread hijack here, but me and the family are looking to go Centre parcs Woburn Forest, in around June time, but was just wondering if anyone knows what the prices are for the activities? And also what activities are free/included with the booking

Are they the same roughly for all the parcs or different dependent on location?

If anyone has a price list of sorts from a previous trip that would be great to gauge what sort of cost we are looking at to do stuff there.

Thanks!

Spooky. I was the OP of this thread, we are booked to go back down to Whinfell in May. Can't wait. Our little 4 year old lad doesn't know yet. His wee face will be a picture when we tell him the day before! :D

As others have said book before hand. In fact book now. It's worth planning out what you want to do and booking it in.

Centre Parcs is like Disney - if you turn up without any research and planning and expect to have a great time you're in for a big disappointment. Do your research, plan your trip, and book things in that you want to do.

It's well worth getting to the pool for opening where it's quiet. Pro tip (if you have small ones) Mini Jet skis is on before the swimming pool opens. This means if you book the slot just before the pool opens then you can just stay in (this was the case at Woburn anyway).

The activities can seem expensive and it can be hit and miss. The football always seems to be really well done with a good mix of training and play. Mini-Crossbows on the other hand was a complete rip-off. £8 for about 4 shots.
