So ive got a EK monarch block along with the universal ek heatsink things. I planned to use some corsair ram I had but I killed two sticks trying to remove the stock heatsinks as they used thermal glue.

I was thinking of buying two of the below kits as the PCB is black which I like and the heatsinks look like they may not be too difficult to remove.

YOUR BASKET
2 x TeamGroup Vulcan RED 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLRED38G1600HC9DC01) £49.99 (£99.98)
Total : £108.68 (includes shipping : £7.25).

Has anyone got any feedback on removing the heatsinks of this or another type of ram?

hunt down some Samsung green ram doesn't have any heat spreaders low volts and over clocks like a beast.

All four kits of Sammy greens I own have black pcb's. They come up quite often in the MM. Why bother watercooling ram though? All it does is add restriction and extra tubing. Ram just doesn't need watercooling anymore. Mine is bare and hardly gets warm. You also void the warranty and there is a chance of damaging the ram removing the heatsinks. Not too long ago on here we had someone remove the heatsinks and some of the ram chips came away with them.

Did you heat up the heatsinks first before trying to remove them, i use a heat gun on a low setting to remove them.

Yes mate could hardly hold them the glue used was really nasty stuff.

Looking a few kits have come up this year but need 4x4GB without having to wait months and months.

Im watercooling the ram for looks nothing else. I totally understand ram does not need it and I probably wouldn't OC my ram anyway. Also warranty is not really a concern as its not massive amounts of money at risk. My chips are still stuck to the heatsink on the sticks I killed.

I couldn't tempt you to let go of your green in a few weeks?

Few problems with that.

Costs a bomb second hand.
Green PCB.
Rare to find now.

Thanks for suggestion though.

not that green quite easy to find but yeah I wouldn't sell it :D

Not a chance!! :D:p:D I love the stuff. I have a pair of kit's in my main pc running at 2133mhz 9-10-10-21-1T with most of the seconds and thirds tightened up as well and only running at 1.5v. I have a kit in each of the 2 other pc's in the house as well only running at 1600mhz but with timings of 7-8-8-21-1T and 1.4v.
