How does it feel going from 60hz to 120hz?

Is it like the jump from 30hz to 60hz? I'd like to know because I have never seen a 120hz+ monitor in action before and with Asus bring the freesync +144hz 1440p monitor out I might be in for a upgrade.

Depends a bit person to person how noticeable it is - I'd probably say the jump itself is about half as noticeable as 30->60 but people tend to really notice it when they become used to 120 and go back to 60.

My personally experience... 60hz>>>120hz is by far the best noticeable upgrade I've had. Everything from desktop to gaming use has enhanced.

120>>>144hz I didn't notice much at all.

60hz to me now feels slow and unresponsive.

That is what I am afraid of, upgrade to 120hz then won't be able to come back to 60hz, the price premium for over 60hz is insane. For most of the games I play though it would be nice to have the extra FPS.

It's a great investment, never used a 120/144hz monitor before I bought mine online and so glad I made the change blind. Can't go back to 60hz, so sluggish compared to 120hz+.

I don't know if this can be discussed on the forums, in which case don't reply to this post and mods feel free to delete it but where would be the best place to sell my current monitor without having to ship it? Don't want to risk it getting damaged in post or buyers fees. (Selling this will profit OcUk)

I personally prefer 144hz at 1080p rather then 60hz at 2160p. (or marketed as ''4k'')

I've seen both in action, and imo 4k is not worth the perfomance downgrade that you get for it. Let me put it this way, what good does a slightly better image quality provide, when that image is completely blurry and does not look good when in motion? For me 144Hz or having ULMB at 120Hz brings more motion clarity.

This is merely my opinion, but 4k is mostly for large TV panels and enjoying a home cinema set watching movies in ultra HD. I consider it a last attempt at desperate marketing by the TV industry because everyone is allready more then happy with their HDTV's.

I'm a long time user of CRT's, and I can tell you high refresh rate is not a gimmick, never has been. CRT's are still the kings when it comes to motion clarity.

144Hz by itself is allready an improvement, but personally I'm more of a backlight strobe (or lightboost) addict. Currently using ULMB at 120hz on a BenQ XL2420G and its good fun when everything is so crystal clear.

There is a members market on these forums :)

Yes but getting access to the members market is another thing. I would love access to the members market but I can't find the requirements anywhere.

You need to have a minimum number of posts I believe and/ or have been a forum member for a certain length of time. I don't know what the figures are anymore though, but I'm sure someone will chip in...

It's in the FAQ that no one reads

I haven't felt the need to upgrade my 120Hz monitor, my laptop runs 60Hz and the difference is noticeable. So is the image quality of the laptop IPS 1080p 14" panel (same pixel density as 28" 4K) but that hasn't made me change my desktop monitor to something that runs 60Hz. Others will tell you the opposite - it really is down to personal opinion and you won't know until you try it.

two of my best PC upgrades in the last 5 years have been an SSD and a 144hz screen which I bought last month. It makes an incredible difference, it's different gravy seeing games at 100fps+ with no tearing.

My personal feeling was that it made very little difference going from 60hz to 120hz. So much so I've actually gone back to a 60hz monitor!

Going from an IPS panel back to a TN (regardless of the faster response) was a mistake however as the colours looked terrible next to it! Personally I'd say spend the money on an IPS panel before worrying about refresh rate.

YMMW though!
