The HTC One Hima (M9) Thread

I was just wondering what peoples experience was with the build quality on the M9.
I know in the past htc had problems with early batch build quality. I remember I had to return my first htc M8 as the screen was sitting proud on opposite diagonal corners, the second one was not perfect but at least it was a dam sight better than the first one.

So here's the Spigen Strong Flex Capsule case and the link below. It certainly a rather snug fit, feels great in the hand and obviously offers great protection.
I don't feel it adds much bulk either which is certainly a bonus. Only £5.99 too which is certainly what I'd consider a bargain.

Exact same case I have for mine. It's a steal for £5.99. The phone itself I'm loving so far, no battery issues, very fluid, camera is definitely an improvement to my M7 too. So far, so good.

I've had mine about a week now, the first one I had went back due to the screen not waking up from sleep, second one is fine...

Looks great

htc still haven't quite nailed it then :(
Although it's good to hear the return wasn't down to physical build quality, rather due to a internal fault.

I'm going to have a look in store this weekend and then buy online, that way I can get a way with returning it under DSR rather than having to argue with some spotty sprogg that the build quality is not what you would expect from a £575 phone.

Cheers

So I presume typing on the phone whilst it is laying flat is relatively straight forward?

I'm coming from a Moto X which, even with a case, slides around mentally on a table.

You'll be fine using it on a flat surface mate, completely straight forward from my experience.

As for the build quality my phone is absolutely perfect...to be fair all my HTC's have been :p

What is the HTC One M8S about?

Given how slight the improvement from M8 to M9 is how is there room for an improved M8 in the HTC Lineup? It has an RRP of almost £200 less than the M9, what does the M9 offer over the M8S for £200?

Ok so I've been messing around with the camera a bit more yesterday and today so I'll post a few pics below of another Auto vs HDR and some examples of Bokeh camera mode.

HDR off vs HDR on (I didn't stay in the exact same position for some reason)

The below one of my dog is now my desktop background, pretty pleased with how it came out.

Those look pretty good for a camera that's been slated so much in reviews.

The reviews show it as a very hit and miss camera. Loads of shot come out with the wrong exposure, HDR is overdone, 4K is a mess.

It does shoot the occasional good shot, but nowhere near as consistent and high quality as the best. Not what you expect on a flagship phone.

MKBHD review relays that clearly.

Thanks...they definitely look pretty good in my eyes too!

I think the camera was a concern but the more I've played about with it the better it seems to be. It's by no means perfect but certainly was better than my M7 and M8 camera's.

While there won't be miracles in terms of improvements through software I'm still hoping there will be incremental updates to the camera as time goes on but it will certainly do the job just fine for me.

Nokia's use Toshiba sensors I think but have different lenses and obviously superior software.
It might be poorly rated in camera department but audio wise, HTC are far ahead, my M8's audio quality through headphones was so much better than my iPhone 5 and my Z3.

Did you do a back to back test of each phone? Otherwise many variables could have influenced that opinion

No, just switched phones on a daily basis with default audio settings/music player and the first thing that really stood out was how good the audio quality through the same earphones I use, the SM E10's, cant really change settings on iPhone 5 but no matter what settings I try on my Z3, it never seemed to match the audio quality of the M8.
HTC use better drivers or something as I've seen threads on XDA dedicated to flashing the HTC audio files on other Android's,
