Hello gd looking for a bit of advice but i will start with previous events.

I recently sold some system hardware on the members market after i had a issue getting a couple bits posted i decided to make things simple, i booked parcel force 24 hour service VIA parcel monkey for 4 packages.

The day i was promised they would collect on they did not turn up. I called parcel force to see if i should expect them to turn up later in the evening or if they will turn up the following day. This question was greeted by a simple " i don't know it's not my job " attitude that i found quite irritating and wanted to poo through her letterbox.

the following day when they were supposed to be delivering the packages Parcelforce turned up, pretty late, well very late but they turned up none the less. And the driver insisted that the packages would 100% be delivered the next day. By this point whilst keeping good communication with the gents who had bought parts from me they were still itching to get there new parts understandably. I informed them they had been picked up and that they should get there packages tomorrow as per the service i paid for.

The next day several emails came in regarding people not receiving there packages. And one of them mentioned he had contact Parcelforce regarding his delivery ( as they all had tracking details ) they told him that the packages had not made it onto delivery trucks as they were stuck in a depo somewhere. ( they did say where i cant remember exactly however )

The following day HOORAH all the items went out for delivery and all got delivered. Well, kind of.

One of the guys messaged me telling me that the item had not been delivered or left with a neighbour as he had checked however it had been signed for. I swiftly went to check the address they had put onto the shipping label and provided the same address to the gent who bought the item and it was correct.

When discussing this matter with who for short i shall name J, i mentioned it being worth contacting parcel force to try and locate the package. I said i was happy to do this myself however it would possibly be better for him to do this himself as if the driver wants to give any specific details regarding the area they will be better understood by J. He agreed with this and contacted them. He was told to expect a call from the driver on the 7th.

I messaged J to ask him how this call went and this is the main part of the response

J said:
Well it's a bit difficult being at work, no one called me this morning as expected so I spent my lunch break on phone to them. They advised no one had noted the file and had no record of the issue they admitted the driver was working today so I suggested they call him while I waited but they still can't get hold of him apparently.
Call ended with them scheduling a call back for today before 4

At this point i offered J a full refund from my pocket if he wished and i was also happy to continue pressing on with Parcelforce if he wanted to do so.

J's response

J said:
I chased them again and was advised they don't have anyone in the area to pick and and redeliver today so will have to be tomorrow which is fair enough... well it was until I received another parcel from themselves about an hour later.
I was in a meeting at the time so unfortunately I couldn't question the driver, given that and the fact we receive parcels from them on a daily basis its clear the driver with the motherboard was being lazy and dropped it wherever he could.
I want to avoid a refund at all costs mate I want the Mobo, I wanted to start my build this weekend so I would need one by then.
Appalling service from them mate some kind of compensation from them has to be warranted.
I'll let you know what tomorrow brings.

After this point J was promised a called from Kamila at Parcelforce before 9am and you guessed it, no call. So he called back to see what the deal was and got through too Geoff who was just rude and fobbed J off.

now we get to today. As a paying customer i wanted to step in. I got through to a supervisor and i told him the whole chain of events and what did he tell me? " I should be patient and wait for the parcel to be found " over 240 hours into this 24 hour special delivery !!!

I am beyond ****** off with them and the absolutely shocking service. there are bits of this i missed off simply to keep it shorter for GD but i can't believe how poor of a service they are providing.

Have any of you had any experience like this and if so is there any alternate ways you can suggest me/J can proceed to get this sorted.

EDIT : Just to point out J has been excellent through this whole situation despite the fact that he really needs the part he bought for a new build and i feel quite bad about what has occurred.

Just had to collect a package they took to the post office earlier today.

Wouldn't mind, but I asked for Wednesday delivery and they tried to deliver on Tuesday and on top of that their text message sent me to the wrong bloody post office. First time I've ever had that happen. Meant I had to leave early two days in a row - once to go to the wrong post office and today to go the right one. Less than impressed.

Im genuinely shocked at how bad the customer support is with them! I would personally never dream of talking to a customer like that down the phone. It's not like there going out of there way to help us i mean it is there job and they are at work.

I always use UPS access points for my postage. I can drop the parcel off at various local newsagents at a time convenient to me, so I don't have to wait in all day. Everyone has opinions on all couriers but UPS have been pretty good for me in the past. Usually just over a fiver to send as well so very competitive.

I have had two delivers from PF and the driver was a bit of a ****. He just dropped the parcel at my feet handed the PDA to sign and buggered off without uttering a word.

Oh the other hand the local postie is a really nice guy and will have a brief chat etc, I mean its not hard to say hello, sign please and goodbye is it?

These days customer service from these big corporations is becoming non-existent.
If I was you, a couple of words on their social media account will get their attention as everyone can see it.

Is that really what it takes nowadays for a company to act on a issue that is outstanding? It's a real shame really but will definitely try this. Still open to other suggestions!

As you booked it through a third party, I'm surprised they didn't just refer you back to them.

Surely if you've paid and entered into a contract with them to deliver a service and they didn't deliver* then don't you have recourse to chase them for a refund?

* Pun may, or may not, have been intended.

I've never had a problem with Parcelforce myself, but I've got the post office they drop things to just round the corner, so I've never had to deal with the drivers themselves.

24hr parcel force is often slower than royal mail 1st class.

I've had Hong Kong post standard beat them and DHL on several occasions for stuff actually turning up - terrible companies that I don't understand how they are still in business.

Surprisingly atleast for me Royal Mail has completely turned around since Christmas - through 2014 they were often right at the end of the delivery window if they were in it at all - often 1-2 days late but since the new year they've been bang on time every time.

Yes unfortunately. Hired a car once and got charged for damage that I haven't done. Branch manager was of no help after 3 visits. Quick post on their facebook and an hour later I get a call that they are sorry as they looked in their "system" again and the damage was already logged there.

Ended up in a refund

Parcrlforce are totally useless.

We use a lot of couriers for our business (trading company) and refuse to use them to send or receive anything.

On the odd occasion when something is meant to arrive from them, it never arrives on time.

Imports from China that go via EMS through them also are always delayed.

DHL or TNT for International, DPD for UK for me!

Parcel force round here seems to be staffed exclusively by chavs on a post-prison reintegration programme. Your experience doesn't surprise me at all.

Is there no other way I can go about getting this sorted though ? Surely there must be someone/where I can contact regarding this. I am tired of being turned away by them as if ive done something wrong.

^^ This they seem to pay more attention to naming and shaming on social media these days unfortunately.....and also make sure you get a refund. If you purchased next day delivery and they did not deliver next day then terms of service have been broken. If they refuse. Check their fine print first then put a claim in via small claims via moneyclaimonline. Dont forget to claim also for your costs (time and hassle sorting the mess out)

yeah not to keen on Parcelfarce when I know they are delivering, cant say I have ever had a failed delivery but they sure seem to be the worst for me when it comes to damaged packaging or the item itself being damaged as well.

DPD is the king of delivery service!
