I wonder how true this is

When a game on steam preloads, rather than downloads the files like the Rockstar Warhouse system does it, it downloads archives(like a zip/rar).
When the game releases and it can finally be run, Steam then goes and extracts those archives from depotcache folder into the normal 'common' folder. You can more or less treat the preload files like 'installation files'.
You will need a lot of free space in order to extract the archive, because Steam will only remove the preload archive once it fully extracts it and confirms it went fine.
What this means, is if the preload is 60gb, you can assume you will need at least 120gb or so in order for the files to be extracted, checked and then Steam removes them, giving you back the space.
Nothing is worse then having to suddenly find and free up 60gb minutes before you could be able to play.

No, but only because doing so before we see what sort of spec is required to do what is fairly pointless. I am currently running a [email protected] and a GTX 670 - I intend to replace the graphics card unless it runs flawlessly at 60fps at 1080p on high settings which I doubt it will.

But until I see actual data whats the point? Mind end up buying a card thats overkill for pointless extra money or not powerful enough. Best to wait and see.

*mopes and quietly says* It was not pointless..... ;(

I got in the region of £120 off in specials,

I did it bit by bit over 2 months

I have been able to run other games while I wait and wait for GTA V to come out as I never doubted that a 4790k with a 980 would not play it at 1080p pretty much maxed out.... Oh and the 980 was acquired after the specs came out...

:)

Also

you have the most post on any forum I have ever been on! Reeeespect!

OH CRAP :O

Any other Steam user 'lost' their pre-load?? CRAP!!
Just checked steam, GTA V greyed out. I click view pre-load and it wants me to install the whole thing again! the full 62,063mb worth!
What on earth is going on, the files are still there, and the space is most definitely taken up

just checked mine, it said preload suspended, i clicked it and it went back to saying preload complete: unreleased

Thats fine, i got 300GB free on my game drive so im good:)

im only using a 128gb drive, 27.6gb free space for me :o
i have a spare 60gb drive kicking around i could put my OS onto but i think this 128gb ssd only has 119gb of usable space so maybe it wont be enough,
i think worst case senario for me is that il just have to DL it again once its released so itl be a direct DL rather than a preload that needs to be unpacked

I hadn't even thought about it until now, but I am starting to think it may be worth an upgrade, and I've had my current set-up for over 3 years....!

But then I figured I'd wait and see how it runs anyway, I know I won't be able to run it on particularly high settings, but I'm generally okay with how modern games run for me at the moment.

Must treat myself soon though! :D

With the apartments, is there a limit to how many people can buy them? I remember playing the unofficial San andreas multiplayer and each house could only be purchased by one person on that server.

Sure is a lovely looking screen, I would just worry about that response time, that would be my concern especially as your a fps gamer.

It is most likely using the same panel as the Acer IPS 144hz gsync screen so the Asus should perform similarly, not quite as good as the swift/benq when it comes to response time but I doubt the difference will be noticeable during games etc.

It will be a lot better than my current 29um65 when it comes to motion clarity anyway :p

Anyone can buy an apartment, otherwise it would be pointless having them :p

Can't say I've had any issues that ive noticed on my screen Nexus? Other than a 'dull' section at the bottom on a fully black screen. I can't see it when it's any other colour though.
