What did you do to your bike today?

tall/light

that's what im trying to avoid, overdoing it as it looks silly

I fitted an 08 shock and it lowered it slightly from the stock shock, but all I needed was new shock bearings but they are still seized in the old linkage

I just want to lift it a little till I sort out old linkage, rough guess is it dropped it 2 -3 cm from old shock

maybe try one then to get the 2-3cm back

well the bloody clutch cable didn't come today :(
it better come tomorrow morning or I will want my postage cost back

oil n filter all done, just waiting for the cable

need advise, cant get a good seal with new copper exhaust gaskets:( can still hear it blowing slightly

any silicone gasket stuff I can put a thin smear round to get a better seal?

did you clean out where they sit in the head and are the Collars ok.
the gaskets are meant to squash up when you do the nuts up
if there not sealing something wrong somewhere.
you could use some exhaust paste

they looked pretty clean inside the ports, how tight you supposed to tighten the bolts up? I was a bit scared to do em too tight

The copper gaskets are compression gaskets, that's how they seal, so your just going to have to bite the bullet & tighten the bolts until the pipes seal.

how tight is tight? I don't wanna bend the clamps, ive done that in the past

aint there any silicone high temp sealer? could only find some blue stuff rated at 500c

just do half a turn and check until there sealed
it you have bent the collars in the past then the gasket must have been compressed as far as it will go

on another machine ive bent the collars

I can test yeah but not too long as ill have no rad in,have to take it out to get at the bolts

also got manual and torque wrench so ill check with that first, just ****ing me off hearing the noise, esp with new copper gaskets

Checking my bikes technical manual it states that you pre-tighten each down pipe bolt to 2nm and then tighten them in a specific order to 19nm. A previous bike I still have the Haynes manual for states 17nm so possibly that's the kind of range for all header bolts?

Do you have a Haynes or bike specific workshop manual?

Swapped my chain and sprockets over today, wasn't too bad to be honest. Haven't had a chance to take it out yet though so they may be famous last words!

ellior yh I have a pdf online Kawasaki manual

@tom im glad it went smooth, keep meaning to get me a chain riveting tool and start doing my own

Which bit was it for, filtering on a crossing (sure that's a no no though I'm not innocent), or undertaking in the left hand lane though you were going right?

Yh I'm not suprised, you were overtaking/filtering fast moving traffic IMO then right next to a copper car you go and undertake it haha

Ride like a saint when you see the fuzz
