So I wanted to get a HTC One M9 at Carphone warehouse today, and I went through the motions.

I given all my details, we through checks, I passed credit check, then they had an "internal security check" which I failed on, they kept trying, I updated my address today to match EXACTLY what the bank had with carphone warehouse.

To cut a long story short, I had 3 credit checks, one referred and rejected, 2 passed, on Noddle my credit rating is 3/5 so not brilliant, but no bad things there on it.

So are these 3 checks going to screw me up? Carphone warehouse told me to come back on Monday and try again with internal security checks and they won't need to do another credit check.

I never realised taking a contract out was so complicated, there is no indication as to why it failed, and the team that does know exactly why can't tell the staff anyway !?!?!

Bit disappointed and in a fowl mood now, my own fault agreeing to more credit checks I know

I've never being rejected for contracts, my initial EE contract was 46PM and now at 54PM and I've never missed a payment.

I have being rejected for a credit card before and also not gone through with a credit card applications, but the credit checks passed.

Apparently the second one was referred due to one being carried out already, got declined and said try another network provider, then that credit check passed, but internal security checks keep failing with Carphone Warehouse and no one knows why.

EE rejected me for £18pm phone contract despite me having an excellent credit rating. I could only imagine it was because I'd moved house in the last six months.

Have you changed jobs or home recently?

You've not read the post have you?

I thought that, you clearly stated you'd done nothing wrong, cpw can be very weird they once turned me down for buying a phone outright because their records said i have too many phones, I told them I buy phones for my two kids and ex and offered to pay by debit rather than cc and they still couldn't accommodate me. 5 minutes later I had the phone from p4u.

When I took out various 3 contracts I mentioned that I was a dad and would likely have 4 contracts they didn't mind at all and said it was common for a father to do this so no worries.

Wouldn't worry about noddle being 3/5, mine keeps switching between 3/5 & 4/5 for no reason. After looking into it it turns out the numbers are meaningless anyway.

Maybe I'll go elsewhere, but Carphone warehouse made buying my contract out slightly cheaper, there is no one else that'll do it really, Might just go on e2save and see what I can get.

If only Phone 4 U were still here, their internal checks were done verbally with someone asking questions, that was much better.

Do you know what this involves? It sounds like an inhouse review rather than anything linked to your general lending rating which, if correct, would make no difference to that rating.

I had a 2/5 with noddle and still got car finance for over £5000.
The numbers don't mean any thing to other companies as they all have their own score system which are usually based on how easy it is to make a profit from you.

I just applied at 02 for HTC One M9, 49 quid a month, 20gig 4G data, unlimited mins/texts, free Fitbit wrist band, 30% airtime discount.

Accepted, all ordered :)

Will get 100 quid for my Galaxy Note 3 with cracked screen at Currys!

Check with a credit rating service such a Equifax or Experian. I think the latter is offering a months free service with a pay monthly feature after, which you can cancel before the first payment. They'll tell you exactly what's going on with you ratings better than any checkout boy at a phone store.

£49 a month struth! Do you seriously need to spend that much a month? I imagine that is for 24mths too ergo over a grand on a phone in 2 years! By comparison my sim only three contract = is £309 AYCE 4G data!!

I must say I was a bit shocked checking noddle and seeing my credit as just "ok".

I did have Equifax (the buggers didn't tell me about the 2.99 coming out every month), that reported me as having a very good credit rating.
