Anyone Buying, or Rebuying, Dark Souls 2 this week?

Yes, it's well worth a rebuy. Graphics have been redone massively (on console at least), torches are essential for a lot of areas now and enemy placement is completely different and has way more density. Oh and there's a load of new armor/weaponry.

This sounds great, did you play on ps3 originally? If so the pc one was miles ahead of that so i hope this matches and improves on what we saw on pc. The dark areas sound great! Before they just felt washed out and never really needed the torch.

Also the new enemie placements etc should make another playthrough more appealing! Been through the original version about 4-5 times

I've been playing today and loving it. Wanted to play this one before Bloodborne. Only played and completed Dark souls 1 before.

Played a bit last night and have to say even though it's not rock solid it's nice to have a more stable frame rate. Also the new enemy placements can catch you off guard if your not careful. After playing Bloodborne I am not interested in using a shield, so wield two swords or sword and crossbow :)

I've been umming and ahhing over this for a while now, not thinking it would be my cup of tea at all...but got it a couple of days ago and, while struggling a lot, i get the appeal! Really enjoyed what i've played so far, and it's refreshing to have something so challenging and 'unexplained'.

Didn't play any DkS2 DLC and on Steam I can upgrade to this new version for the same price as the season pass. But I'm still going to wait for a price drop.

Well no bloodborne for me so I decided to pick up the new DS2, owned it originally on 360, picked up DS2+DLC on the PC so now just paid the £11 extra for the update. Lost my original save after wiping the PC but I never got around to playing the DLC so I have a reason to play through again anyway

Its been a while since I played it but graphics wise I cant really see a difference, I played the original with everything maxed out and the same with this version, mildly disappointed.

New enemy placements do make it feel a bit more like you are playing through for the first time again, not just charging into an area because you know where everything is.

I do think heides tower of flame is a little ridiculous with the addition of 6 heide knights and a wyvern (tip: open the route to the cathedral of blue before you kill dragonrider) I'm playing a low level caster and I dont have even 1/3 of the spell casts needed to get through the area, although its possible to work around this by clearing to dragonrider, dropping your summon and using co-op to kill a boss and re-fill your casts

Oh yeah and there is an fairly early game invader that was kinda overpowered, definately a few more cheap death scenarios in the game

I'm up to this bit now, its really tough. Might need to go back to early levels and grind a bit!

I'll revisit this when it's much cheaper on Pc, I never bought any of the DLC so i'll be greeted to some nice new content at least. I didn't enjoy DS2 anywhere near as much as the other games in the series though, there were a few little things that annoyed me and broke immersion, plus it felt a little cheap in places with some of the enemies that you faced.

Is this the 'final' version of the game?

I don't much keep track of games anymore but weren't FromSoftware going to release an updated game with better graphics and more NPC's? Is this it?

So I couldn't beat the Bastille bosses so I went to the shaded woods area and now I'm finding that more than manageable (just beat the boss), yet when I look at the suggested order of areas Bastille is like the 4th area and the Shaded Woods level is recommended to tackle much further on. Not sure why I'm finding what's meant to be easy hard and the hard areas easy lol.

I skipped through the fog area after dealing with the invader as I just didnt seem to be doing much damage to the invisible NPCs, but then in the later half of the shaded woods we have what are now my least favorite NPCs in the game, these ones that look like player shadows that you can see but cant target... wth

so faffing around with the binoculars manually aiming spells is the way to go here. I hope there isnt more of this breaking a mechanic for the sake of a cheap kill stuff, i'm sure there are still players out there that dont have the binoculars or dont realise you can manually aim spells with them that this caused a real issue for

I never used to fight these guys, i would just sprint around picking up the items and get to the other side, sticking to the left wall helps mostly from what i remember

Yeah I guess it all depends on the build. I'm a non magic guy and they were easy to take down for me... If only every enemy was like that though!

I normally clear the area at least once and make sure i've picked everything up, but its the new 'shades' in the non-fogged area that I was talking about. You can see them perfectly well but they appear like how you see ghosts of other players and you cant target them

My copy still hasn't arrived from Amazon. Have to wait until Wed before they send another if it still hasn't arrived by then - which is unlikely as plenty other mail arrived last week.

Really want to get back on it - at least it allowed me to watch the entire Daredevil series first!

Picked this up last week for Xbox One.

Never played any of the Dark Souls game so thought I would give this a try and it's great. So damn difficult though and not a lot is explained really.

Managed to get past the first area (Fallen Giants) and onto the Heides Tower just so damn hard :)

WTF - Just got in from Squash and next door were out front and said they have had a parcel for me for 1 week but couldn't catch me in!

So, here is me thinking after 672 orders Amazon had finally messed up but nope, it was Royal Mail. Surprise surprise!
Even though I was in the house at the time of delivery, they managed to post it next door and also didn't leave a card to say they had done so.

I've now just had to look like a fool and tell Amazon I will have to send the replacement back.
Although I would question why on earth they posted it in a box 3 times the size of the game - they usually just come through the letterbox.

Next door couldn't have made that much effort mind - they can see both my cars out back so they know when I'm in!! sigh...Played FFXIII all week for nothing!!! lol
