Australia to stop welfare cash of anti-vaccine parents

What do we think? Government going too far or government doing what it should by looking after the populace?

Implementing a policy that acknowledges and utilises scientific findings to reduce the number of cases of preventable diseases in vulnerable children, cuts the amount of money being handed out to people who go against scientific research to risk their children's lives, and does so in a way that is not only agreed upon by the opposition party, but also makes exceptions for very remote situations regarding religion or ethical grounds?

Australia, I salute you.

Good principle, terrible execution. All this policy is going to do is harm poorer families that depend on benefits and leave richer people free to do as they like. Better to deny entry to nursery for unvaccinated kids without proper reason, surely.

How is it going to harm poorer families?

It's forcing parents to vaccinate their kids. I seriously doubt the poor families you speak of are going to just starve to death, they'll vaccinate their kids, claim their benefits and that will be the end of it.

Denying entry to nursery is just going to harm the child in two ways; lack of vaccinations and lack of pre-education.

How will it harm them exactly?
They are harming themselves, and sometimes the money stick is a better thing than the lack of education stick they might not care about.
Stopping giving them the money and we'll see how many of them actually maintain their protest against vaccination.

Religion needs to sod off once and for all. It's the source of so many issues nowadays it's beyond unacceptable.

Exactly, while rich families with crazy parents can continue to avoid vaccinating their kids as they please. It's a form of social stratification, tell me why exactly should rich parents be given this choice but not poor ones? Especially if you believe that nobody should be given this choice...
