I know this comes up a lot but I was just wondering what the current best tablet was with a kids mode?

I was sold on an Amazon Fire HD7 until I realised I was limited to their custom App Store.

The Tesco HUDL 2 seems good?

Thanks for any help.

Best to post on here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=80

There's plenty of apps on the Play store that offers a kid mode but I'm unsure which one is the best to use, could ask here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18571592

My uncle and aunt uses this and it works well for them, but it was preinstalled on their phones so they haven't really tried others: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zoodles.kidmode

So then I suppose it will depend on what budget you have for a tablet.

Good thinking, I should've posted there.

I'm looking for something with kids mode at the ps level I think. Ice come across the galaxy tab 4 7 inch which seems to fit the bill. Should hopefully be able to pick up a good second hand example for a fair price too?

I'll check that app out. I've seen it mentioned now a few times in my search.

Thanks for getting back to me buddy.

With Android tablets, if it's got JellyBean (4.1.3 I think) on it or above, then there is the option to have multiple users.

You can password/pin the main user and create limited profile secondary users

So, basically any modern Android tablet should have what you need built-in :)

I have a Hudl2 for my son and it works pretty well. Only allows what apps I authorise on the built in software and he cant install anything without permission. :)

Cheers. That clears it up about android. I'm not sure but I think the Samsung takes kids mode a bit further with a kid friendly interface?

The HUDL also caught my eye. I think it's between that and the galaxy tab 4.?

Samsung did a version of the Galaxy Tab 3 specifically for kids......could be bought with a rugged case with handle and chubby stylus - bought one a year back for my 5yr old.
Full on Kids mode, by default, with very good interface, the nice thing being that you can remove the tablet from the case and deactivate the kids mode entirely, making it a decent 'slightly older kids' tablet later.

my 3 year old just uses out Ipad mini 1. setup so she can't install any apps without a password and just turn the wifi off so she cant go on the net.

I've seen these, and was initially set on getting one but they are still changing hands at silly money. Hopefully a tab 4 will have a good kids mode.

Again, though about this but I want a dedicated kids mode/interface if possible. Again for the right price I'd go the mini 1 route.

I picked up a cheap samsung tab s 8.4 this has a kids mode which my almost 3 year old daughter loves. It's pin protected, you choose the apps they have access to. It also has a voice changer app that's fun and a drawing app built in.

Hugest

+1 for Hudl2, well actually +3 as each of my kids have one...

Limit access by time of day, by individual game/apps, by internet search topic and youtube on/off (need yt account in addition to filter content).

Does pretty much everything I can think of...

Also, if you can be patient, they are frequently included in the club card thingy meaning you can get 'em for half-price ~ £60 notes...
