*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

im looking for a sim free galaxy s6 edge 64gb, just cannot find it, will look in cpw store, hopefully others will start following, i find amazon uk a big let down

I'm in the same boat. I ordered from Samsung direct and they are telling me 24th April. Little disappointing but after using iPhone's for about 7 years I'm sure I can wait another 2 weeks.

As a hardcore apple user can anyone advise what they think the top 3 advantages Android has over apple?

im sure within the next week or so , we should start getting sim free s6 edge instock somewhere well im hoping

the only iphone i had was the first iphone 3gs, then after went to andriod , apple is far too locked up for me, sending stuff via Bluetooth, and also itunes to do everything , im sure people out there are happy with that but i wasnt and i aint into jail breaking and keeping up with that game,

well that was my main reason, and now with the spec and build of the s6 :p , i now have a HTC M8, which is great but wanting something new and M9 just aint worth it from M8

Not being treated like a child. I'm currently using iOS and everything is baby proofed, this might be great for someone that doesn't really get on with tech, but for me personally I feel like I'm being treated like I'm an idiot.

Simple things, my first day on the iPhone 6 I had to wait till I got a WiFi signal before I could download my iCloud backup, right off the bat my experience was horrible. I pay a lot of money to get a lot of high speed data, but its useless. The next day I was out with friends (none of which use iOS but where interested) and they wanted too see how some of the higher end games compared, once again I get told "Oh your stupid you can't possible want to download that without WiFi", I coulnd't show my friends the games, and I felt like a **** as I told them it would run better.

Also Google services are generally worse (The internet told me it was better :rolleyes:), Google maps is nice but everything pushes me to Apples inferior version, I can't gmail is horrible compared too the Android app, hangouts is a huge battery suck and buggy. Not found a single Google app that is better on iOS.

Finally Siri is meh, Google Now is infinily better, Siri doesn't really do anything for me exepct answer a few simple voice commands. Google now on the other hand automates a huge amount of my life;

* Tracks packages - this is amazing
* Handles Tickets - Hotels, airplanes etc etc
* Travel updates - I wake up in the morning it lets me know when I need to leave to reach work on time, what trains are working and so on, huge in London. For event its even more useful
* Sports Scores - I know when to tease my misses when Liverpool loses and when to not bring up football
* Everything Siri does
* Allows me to type out commands so I'm not a **** talking too his phone

All these things on iOS need a separate App and its all cumbersome.

Finally the biggest thing I think is Lollipop, for the first time ever I feel Android looks better then iOS, has better animations, and developers actual care. I set up my N5 again last night since I got it back from my brother and it was difficult too not find a material app (expect **** like Facebook but they don't really have an iOS7 designed app either).

Awesome thanks. I'm really looking forward to better google integration as I uuse gmail, maps and ofcause google every day. I've never bothered with siri (mostly because of the reasons you listed above) but will definitely try google now.

Android defults to doing a lot of stuff over wifi as well, can't see how iOS is any different in that case.

On Android when I try to download an App over 100mb, it warns me but lets me continue, on iOS there is no warning it just says no, and I can't get around that without jailbreaking, which is longer and longer each time, my iPad is still on 8.1.2 since everything else is patched.

From an end user point I feel like on Android it gives me the respect to choice whats best for me. I set up my phone, download all my apps (including a few very large games) over 4G no issues on my N5, I can't even download a few MBs of iCloud backup I had on iOS.

Its not always rosy on the other side, but I think from a software experience its better for someone thats into his/her tech and doesn't need to be controlled as much. The main thing I will miss is TouchID, not only using it too unlock the phone, but a lot of apps like Authy. Hopefully Samsung can get developers onboard for that thou.

Is it me or can you now not change the snooze duration in the alarm clock? I used to be able to on my S4. It will only allow me to select 3 times 5mins!? I like 10 min soozes lol.

Can anyone recommend a good 3rd party alarm clock?

Thanks

I'm having problems with lollipop. When off WiFi, all apps that user data seem to hang with "mobile radio active", can't see a fix for this. On WiFi the battery is great, not so when off due to this bug.

Got home from work today with 51% battery.
With my S4 I was having to charge it when I got home.

I am a courier so I am out and about all day with a mix of 3G, H+ and 4G. I go online, watch trailers, use Google maps, text, make calls etc. It uses bluetooth to the van which obliviously disconnects every time I switch the van off and get out. So basically that also means it re-connects each time too, so 130(ish) times in a day.

So yea, cant compare battery to an iPhone, but certainly better than my S4 was and I've given it a good workout :)

Contemplating upgrading my galaxy nexus to the s6. Been with voda on sim free for the last few years, will phone to see what rententions can offer, but what deals are people managing to get?

I'm in no rush, and happy to switch networks!

had a play about with both today. Where the screen met the metal frame on the edge, I could feel the edge of the metal frame, a kind of roughness. Is this normal? Kind of trying to justify the edge for an extra £90 when the novelty will wear off for me within a month.
