Binged this over the weekend, unbelievably good and heart poundingly intense at times.

If anyone remembers "The Staircase" a few years ago and liked it then you will probably love this. If you have not seen The Staircase I cannot recommend it enough.

I can't tell you too much about The Jinx, without spoiler tags really and if you watch this you really need to go in with no prior knowledge. If you google anything about it, you will spoil it for yourself based on things still currently unfolding.

The Jinx, is a 2015 HBO documentary miniseries about Robert Durst, written by Andrew Jarecki, Marc Smerling, and Zachary Stuart-Pontier. The series was also directed by Jarecki, who previously directed All Good Things (2010), which was inspired by the life of Durst.

Robert Durst professed admiration for All Good Things and telephoned Jarecki after its release, offering to be interviewed (a conversation recorded and incorporated into the documentary). Durst would ultimately sit with Jarecki for more than 20 hours over a multi-year period, having not previously cooperated with journalistic media.

The series investigates the unsolved 1982 disappearance of Durst's wife Kathie, the 2000 execution-style killing of his friend Susan Berman, and the 2001 death and dismemberment of his neighbour Morris Black, in Galveston, Texas.

I have seen a follow up Staircase documentary which was a one off, a sort of 10 years on update.

If that is not what you mean then I will be seeking it out!

For anyone who likes stuff like this and listens to Podcasts you should also download "Serial".

What an ending. I want more....
Through out the whole thing I couldn't quite tell if this was real, it felt rather serial that they would start discovering things, and that he would be so forcoming with the interviewer, and for it to end like that, he's clearly 2 ssandwich short of a picnic.
It is also very shocking that the police are so incompotent that they wouldn't have tried to compare that note to him before, seems an obvious avenue of investigation to me.
I wonder what is going to happen.

Please someone has seen this now...

The way they told the story felt a little manipulated yeah. Unlike The staircase it was filmed over a 2 year period and they only met Durst 3 times I think over that time. Clearly it was influenced by the way The Staircase dropped the bomb on you nearly every episode and they held stuff back for later to achieve this.

The police work is just stunningly bad if we are being told the whole story. The only case that seems to have been handled correctly was Maurice Black but that was the one that was almost open and shut. The handling of the others were shocking.

I don't know if you know but another woman disappeared in 1971 after visiting Dust's health food store and this is also being investigated again.

Google "the staircase imdb" and the top entry is the correct one.

However when you actually click the link named "The Staircase" it takes you to a IMDB page called "Death on the Staircase" anyhow this is still he correct series.

The film makers were French even though the series was filmed in America, this may be why there is more than one name for it due to translations and regional variations.

Please be careful you don't read any user comments or reviews...I see the top review title gives away info.

Thank you, think I found it, is it 9 parts?

Another thread revival, how on earth has this not been uncovered sooner? The power of money is incredible. The last voice recording gave me chills as did how he refers to himself in third person a lot.

Apparently he lied about how he seen his mother and waved to her; but I can't say I'm surprised. Sociopath.

I watched this off the back of Avery and can't get into it

I have no sympathy for him at all.

But I'm fascinated as to why he's not in jail.

Watched this after Making a Murderer and they're both great. This was a little slow at times but man... that ending.. actually made my jaw drop.
