** BEATS BY DR DRE - AVAILABLE NOW **

The sound of them isn't that bad, it's just very base heavy. Most HiFi kit is made to good margins, these are no different.

If you even know what accuracy of sound is you won't be in the meerkat for Dr DRE BEATS

That is one way of looking at it heh.

Many people don't even like neutral/reference sound and even high end audiophile headphones aren't necessarily the last word in listening experience - though I have (way) more accurate headphones I quite enjoy the momentums due to the fast punchy low end while a little gimmicky very fun sound that can be especially enjoyable with certain types of music.

No Diggity.

Good on OcUK for expanding their product range though. I'd rather shop somewhere which goes out of its way to provide a wide range of things to choose from than somewhere with little choice.

Good point, thought I doubt if they were bombing OCUK would tell us anyway. They'll just quietly be removed whenever the stock sells off. Time will tell.

nah, we can get them at the moment. so I am giving them a go to see if people are interested.

Its not a stock risk really so I don't understand why people are so worried about how this decision will impact OcUK?

every successful product manufactured in the world is made to good margins otherwise it wouldn't get manufactured at all.

this is something people fail to take into account when discussing this sort of thing.

the people dredging up the 'dre beats cost $14 to make" articles in response to this probably all have a smartphone in their pockets that cost <20% of the value they paid for the product to manufacture yet still went into the office doing a fair deal of willy waving over their new toy before going on the ocuk forums to the ***official crap korean phone thread*** to boast about it...

Because OcUK is life, OcUK is love.

** Don't do it then **

Its shocking that there is more to the cost of an item than the raw material cost price :S

Whilst I understand chasing margins (working in Marketing and all that), and everyone knows the margins on this cru.. er, these products, are very high, just don't go blurbing that they are something they are not. Stock it, and let the numpties buy out of their own misguided judgement, but don't say they are good products or value for money, because that is just lying :p

I know right. imagine if things like supply chain and marketing impacted things like that. The world would be in chaos.

People have no idea about costs to produce. They think you add the item cost prices up and put on 5% and you have the cost, but it's somewhat different in the real world..

I'm surprised you guys weren't selling them already to be honest, even if they aren't to my taste they seem to be popular with a lot of others.

True, but what we do know if a hefty % of that price goes straight to our man Dre, otherwise he wouldn't have put his name on it in the first place ;)

Actually, can anyone advise on a celebrity endorsement that is actually legit? :D

Doesn't bother me a jot, just seems an odd product for this particular user base. Of course I appreciate your custom goes far beyond forum members.

Well audio is a tough one for us very niche market lots of selfish people on this Island. The don't want to share the profit and like to control pricing. We can buy from beyerdynamic and audio technica Direct but they will not sell us their non gaming lines.

"rainforest" have used broad purchasing schemes and bulk buying power to force many companies into working with them we don't have that reach or that financial power so we have to take deals when they come along.

This deal allows us to compete with said rainforest and actually make a some money.

Whilst yes our solid and mainly tech savvy forum users may not be fans of Dr Dre and his beats, but just stocking them can pull traffic to our website. New customers are just as important as return customers. The thread in here was clearly made injest RJK knows full well how it would turn out and has clearly written the post with that in mind :)

The facts remain. They outsell every headphone hand over fist regardless of the efforts of changstar headfi innerfidelity and R/headphones.

We are a business and we rarely turn down good opportunity's and sure if it doesn't work out so what we haven't exactly taken a container of them. Christmas is only 8 months away they'll sell.

Tis still a cost ;)

Is op trolling do you all think?

I sware he must be trolling.

as a sound engineer in a previous life, I can tell you I would not pay £19.99 for a pair of 'Beats'

by far they are the worst headphones I have ever listened to, I have had better headphones come free with a diet pack of food.

this is of course just my opinion, and would recommend you try before you buy, that is of course if you care about sound quality and not the 'look'

sadly it is the 'look' that sells these, my only comparison would be to sell a high end 4K TV that would only output 260p.

I have no doubt in my mind, Dre is trying to work this out as we speak.

Funny enough i've been doing sound engineering myself for past 4 years and I'm in agreement. These things cost more than my sennheiser hd650's I use... LOL

I must say I was glad to see a fairly tongue in cheek post, and not a post trying to sell them as excellent audio products. I have no problem with ocuk selling a popular high margin product. As you say, it's a business!

That said, I would be more likely to buy beets from you.
