[Advice] Piece of metal flew off a shipping container lorry, damaged my bumper/undertray.

Dennison is a trailer skeleton (the bit that holds the container) manufacturer not the tractor (truck) manufacturer.

Your word versus their word most likely, chances are the truck driver was probably not eve aware of it.

I have experience of something similar although much scarier, I was driving a small vw van on a dual carriageway and overtaking a large lorry in the "slow" lane, I had just passed the rear of the lorry and noticed the lorry switching into my lane, before I knew it I was pined against the central reservation with a break in the reservation coming up, I slammed the brakes on just in time to end up.behind the lorry, I followed it long enough to take its number plate but was in shock so pulled off dual carriageway and phones it into my head office, the lorry driver denied it even though it would have damage on the side.

And you didn't report it as a hit and run?

Yeah the shipping container info doesn't really tell much sadly. It seems like it will be more faff than success trying to anywhere with this I guess. I will still try phoning their insurer tomorrow and see what they say though.

As for dash cam, it's genuinely an option I'm considering now. Just a wide angle 720p one at 30fps would be sufficient, manual on/off and all it needs to do is loop record on each turn on to SD card and sit on the windscreen out of the way.

MicroSD card, so you can swallow it

Are you calling me a law breaker!

Well I've phoned their insurer and logged the claim. They've taken all details and a claims handler will be in touch with me shortly once they've spoken with the insured.

The insurer is QBE, no idea how claim friendly they are but I fully expect them to reject the claim...

Won't you need to declare this as it will be on the motor insurance database? It will be non fault but will still increase your premium.

Going back and looking at that small scuff and a damaged under tray, I'm really surprised that you would bother with an insurance claim for this :/
