***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

Can I just say, to all the impatient people that were moaning this entire period; this is what they mean by the best things come to those who wait.

Seriously impressed by this game but also by the amount of love it's getting from all over the Internet.

so any advanced guides on performance for this yet and what kills FPS and what doesn't?

MSAA and Tesselation mostly.

You would also have to measure the settings in loads of different areas of the map to get a true reflection on the settings performance as well.

The extended distance scaling has little effect in the middle of the city where most of the stuff in the distance is blocked by buildings, out in the countryside though it has a big effect I find.

What Ayehuasca said really, MSAA and tessellation are the bigger ones, followed by the extended distance scaling which is draw distance I think.

These reduce VRAM usage the most anyway, and in terms of the extended distance, I reduced mine more than I actually needed and didn't really see a difference visually.

These are all in the normal graphics menu, im not sure about the advanced graphics bit

Once you are in a crew do you then have to send everyone in that crew a friend invite?

How do you see/interact with my crew mates?

There's an option to join crew mates (of your active crew) in one of the online menus. They can also invite you to sessions etc. It really helps to be on teamspeak with them tbh

I've had an hour or so on this this morning, not much time for a proper play but i'm running on the resolution between 4k and 1440 with nearly everything on very hi, and MSAA etc up and it's looking good but i'm not sure what fps it is (don't know how to get it up). I'm waiting for my wireless xbox 360 pad to arrive in the post which is supposed to be today (still waiting).

I have an issue with sound, i have a 780ti oc and i plugged the HDMI into my Onkyo TX-NR626 AV amp to play on my LG 47LA660V tv but there was no sound. I fiddled around with sound settings and got it to work, but then skype wouldn't play sound with new settings :(.
I've set the sound back to play via onboard sound (Asus maximus hero VI). so everything is back to where it was but i don't get sound via the Onkyo when i plug my HDMI in. It's a royal PiTA!.

Now, my next day off is sunday, so i won't be able to have a proper play till then, however, all my home brew kit and ingredients have arrived so i'm tempted to make my first ever brew (A Belgian tripel beer). hmmm, decisions, decisions....

found this on reddit incase anyone is having stuttering issues.

Recently, Nvidia came out with a GeForce Experience update which is awesome! The bad thing is that it installed a bloatware onto my computer (and probably yours, not sure yet). The reason I found out was my CPU was running at 65% to 90% usage constantly, even when I was surfing the web which I thought was weird. So I opened the resource manager for Windows and found MANY TCP connections for NvStreamSvc (it was around 100 + connections). So I found a site that stopped it and disabled it on start. To people who are skeptical about it, if you don't have SHIELD from Nvidia, then it doesn't effect you at all.
How do you access the resource manager (For Windows 8/8.1 Users)
- Right on your taskbar on the bottom of the screen and select "task manager"
- Once open click on the performance tab
- Once on the performance tab click (towards the bottom) "Open Resource Manager" it will look something like this
- Click on the CPU tab and look at the small cpu usage box on the Process Bar. If it's anything over 5-15% then you need to click on the Network Tab and look for any connections called "NvStreamSvc," if you have more than about 5-10 and you have many IPv4Loopbacks, then chances are it's causing bloating on your computer.
How do I stop "NvStreamSvc"
- Open the start tab and type in "Cmd"
- When the "cmd.exe" pops up, right click on it and select "run as administrator"
- Once the box opens type in: sc stop "NvStreamSvc"
- Now type sc config "NvStreamSvc" start=disabled
- Type exit and you're done! :D

I kept getting out of memory crashes. The game would just freeze with the audio stuttering. However, when I checked my page file, I realised that I had allocated a 3072MB page file on a drive that only had 1GB available!

I have set a new page file in another drive to 5000-15000MB. I'm sure that will be ample and hopefully the issue will be resolved.

However, to avoid slowdown through use of a mechanical page file, is this one game that it would be worth upgrading from 8GB RAM to 16GB? How much memory do you think the game actually uses?

Funny you should mention that as Hardline is doing the same for me (using almost 8GB of my RAM) and adding another 8/16gb is something I'm considering.

Have you checked the file integrity via steam?

i was crashing due to a system memory leak, found out it was my samsung SSD that needed to be put into performance mode, not crashed since,
you using a samsung SSD?
i have page file at 0mb/off

an i7 overclocked helps

Looking at the Guru3D article MSAA can affect FPS, but for me VRAM is the limiting factor even at 1080p. There appears to be a mismatch between the game's reported VRAM usage and MSI AB's

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/gta_v_pc_graphics_performance_review,9.html

What I am finding however is that if I increase some settings to v high (GFE says that these are optimal for me) I get flickering, just like what this guy gets.

Thanks.

Already got MSAA and reflection MSAA turned off along with postFX set to normal and shadows set to high.

Will try lowering tessellation and distance scaling and see if that helps.

With my current settings atm, I am nowhere near 4GB usage, think my VRAM usage is between 2 and 2.5GB. According to MSI AB, my max VRAM usage is 3472

Looking at that CPU benchmark test though, I think it might just be my i5-750 showing its age now :(, why couldn't this game have had mantle?!

I turned everything to max in the advanced graphics and it absolutely killed my FPS when in the country side.

You can check with MSI Afterburner the amount of RAM used.

My son wants this for his birthday. He's only 7. I can't seem to find anywhere selling the Sega Master System version.
Just buy my little pony and relabel the box, its mostly the same kinda thing when you 7

I haven't been getting 100% usage on a single 980!

Still runs great though but its clear you need a powerful cpu for this game.

good news for me, my cpu is far better then gpu. I dont normally use aa and fancy grubbins just like good fps and viewdistance

I don't use NV Shield so thanks. I've just done those steps and after a reboot my CPU usage on idle/browsing is 1-2%. Previously was at 23%.

Isn't a Steam download. Got it from Nuuvem, so it's a Rockstar download.

Nope mate, got to get a new SSD as I gave my game storage one up in a moment of generosity so I could get my mums laptop working again, and my Main Plextor one doesn't have enough space, so using a plain old mechanical drive atm.

I've been getting random BSODs, and I have a samsung SSD (840 Evo), might give this a go!

Was playing for longer than i should have yesterday, So me and my brothers were all flying in my Titan at night and the Peer where the Roller-coaster is and the Ferris wheel looks amazing at night.

The bright lights at night reflect in the water, Truly amazing at 1440P.

Very impressed with how this looks on PC and well worth the wait even know i've played the game on ever console already :D
