Are you one of them?

Why not put the phone down and socialise or do something active? The worst is when you're at the pub then someone pulls their phone out then everyone else does and then conversation dissipates as each try to find a more amazing thing on their phone than the others

I have to say I sympathise with the OP on this. It really winds me up when people don't look where they're going. However I do use my phone when walking if I'm following directions for example - but only from time to time (i.e. if I get to a junction and cannot remember which way to go, I don't keep it up in front of me). I much prefer to look around me and get a feel of what/who is around me.

Then again there are still people that drive whilst on their phones not paying attention to pedestrian crossings and so on.

That has the face buried in your mobile phone whilst walking along the road, on a bus or train in fact any and everywhere?

And if so what are you doing on it? I might check my email sporadically is waiting on something but not much else unless I am in hospital or some such.

So what are you doing?

I see them everyday, some people seem to use their phones while walking with headphones in and only look around when they come to lights.

I've even pulled a few back at traffic lights, people seem to have a death wish.

I usually read the news on the walk to Uni/Home/Work, and will use it as a period each day to catch up with friends/social media/send Uni emails.

I'm a slow walker when doing this and never pay much attention to thing, headphones on means I pretty much am in my own little bubble. I've nearly being ran over quite a few times, but being six foot eight I'm a bit easier to spot.

I understand people say socialise, but seriously who does that outside walking to a destination or sitting on a train/bus, Did this ever happen prior to phones?

I do however hate people who are at a pub/restaurant with there mates/partner and sat on there phone.

Looking at your phone is no different to reading a newspaper walking through the street or while on a train

Sat on the train fine, reading a book/newspaper whilst walking down the street makes you just as much a **** as the people glued to their phones, maybe try looking where you're going so you don't keep walking into people/in front of cars!*

Not necessarily directed at the quoted poster, but anyone who does this...

I often find myself blankly staring at my phone, wondering why I constantly have to update all the Apps I have that I don't want and will never, ever use but can't stop running or even delete them....

check phone twice a day, use it more as an iTorch than anything else, thast the only reason I even bother carrying it.

Oh and I could probably get by with only one app, Bejeweled 2 for toilet time.

Hey, I said it was the same as, not that it was okay :p.

I have unlimited internet on my phone contract so I'm usually browsing le reddit or anything remotely interesting.

This is why I could never have a limited data contract, how the hell do people manage on less than 10gb my play account has used over 500mb this last fortnight.

Ah! The golden rule! Never on your phone if you're with people.

Similarly, if me and friends go out for a meal, all phones are placed face down on the table, first to break usually gets the drinks tab.

Not really, I do avoid people but I'm in my own little world walking about.

The most infuriating thing about them is that when you have to brake sharply because they've decided to walk straight off the pavement into your path, they give you a dirty look as if it's somehow your fault?!

Had some moron do it a few years ago when I was riding my mountain bike; he just decided to cross the road about 1m in front of me, staring at his phone, didn't even make a token effort to look. "Unfortunately" I was too close to stop, so hit him relatively hard, I was utterly devastated* to see the phone fly out of his hand and down the road... :p

When im on the bus and tram to and from work im usually on my phone browsing the interwebs but otherwise it's in my pocket. I get rather annoyed of folks trudging around the city phone in face not looking where they are going.
