Hey guys, I’m looking for a laptop!

I love my desktop but with my new job and me traveling back home on the weekends every week I hardly get to use it. The laptop would be for gaming, Photoshop/Illustrator (large files) and Unity3D. So disk space with a decent amount of RAM is required, 16gb+.

Due to the amount of traveling the laptop would have to be a reasonable size, so I was thinking 15.6 screen with ok battery. SSD or M2.SATA for the OS and a couple of games/main programs. And a minimum 1TB of HD space, Hybrid? I would like the 980M 8GB, but if someone knows otherwise I’m open to any ideas.

I’m new to the laptop scene but have been looking for a while.
I was looking at these two:

Aorus X3 – Decent battery but less powerful. Screen resolution unnecessary?
P35X – Powerful but worse battery and loud? Love the blank design and how slim it is.

Budget of around £1500 can go up a tad, preferably stay around that.
Any input would be greatly appreciated, any new options?
Should I wait and see what the future holds? Help :)

Regards, Xerco

Hi Xerco,

The P35X @ OcUK is a genuine bargain at the moment with £120 discount from RRP.

Only 3 left....

This has the 8GB vRAM you are after and although its got 8GB ram, you can easily access the rear of the machine and add another 8GB stick. You can also add another SSD to the machine as it has 1 spare bay, and all the P35 and P37 models have a hot-swappable Optical drive that gives you even more storage expansion options.

There are plenty of P35 reviews with media and end users, so you don't have to just take our word for it, it has been very well reviewed over the last couple of months:-)

AORUS X3 plus v3 is also another great option... we couldn't sway you one way or the other really, I think its a question of design choice and your individual requirements....

Hope that bit of input helps in someway !

Hey Atom thanks for reply, it does look good.

I need a laptop, but not to the point of shooting myself in the foot :P I saw the P35X was released in mid 2014, is there anything expected from GIGABYTE in the near future?

I would happily wait a little longer and spend a little more for a model that will add another year or two of usability.

Hi Xerco,

The P35X model was released when the 9 series GPUs arrived from NVIDIA and our first deliveries into the UK were in Oct/Nov, so its still fresh really.

The only planned revisions are later in the year when Intel release new CPUs, but as always these are never 100% firm dates. So the current model with latest GPUs will still be current for the next few months.

Hope that's helps and as posted on previous thread the model here:

really does offer excellent value, especially while it on this week only (until Wednesday)

Hope that helps and thanks for your interest..
