***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

GTA V is an odd one to get a grasp on the tone. When we first started playing I was getting really frustrated at the races as it seemed too much was up to luck and/or possibly the driving skill and/or getting used to the controls... sometimes it purely was the luck of the bounce off a small kerb as to whether you crash out or and AI car deciding to turn in front of you... or I'd be taking the same corner at the same speed and same car as others and for some reason spin out which I assume is driving skill/some subtlety with controls.

After a while though I kind of got it... not taking it too seriously I started to have fun... with some slight rage but I guess it'll pass. That and I swear once you get one or two bars in driving skill it makes all the difference (but who knows... it may be a placebo)

:D Lets just have fun with beer tonight :D after all its only a game... Hazard will bring the milkshake ;)

are you using a Samsung SSD? if so make sure its in performance mode otherwise it screws up the system vertual memory and causes 'low memory' crashes

I'm getting constant crashes (see my post on page 112, http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=27924632&postcount=3336) and i've got in installed on a samsung SSD.

It's a 240 GB SSD disk, split into 2 partitions, one for windows 8.1 and one for games, but only has GTAV on it (130 GB partition).

Can i activate that performance mode for just that partition, and how would i do that ?

anyone else get higher fps the higher the refresh rate of their monitor is?

59hz = 30fps
60hz = 50-60fps
120/144 hz = like 60-80fps but then my game crashes after 5mins.

nothing wrong with my pc, bf4 got my gpu way hotter than gtav does.

FYI the steam updates download at full speed ;) one of the reasons I went for the steam version the R* servers have always been a bit pants. Steams servers seem quite capable tbh certainly compared

i dont know if you can do it for a perticular partition,
check samsung magician software, you can DL it here if you dont have it http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/SSD/global/html/support/downloads.html (2nd one on the list)
mine was in 'reliability mode', once i changed it to 'performance mode' i havnt crashed again

780 sounds like a hair dryer playing this lol can't wait for water cooled quietness :)

Really? Mine barely increases it's fan speed... Clean it out maybe? I'm using the windforce 3x version however, but still... I will be cleaning my PC out this weekend though (compressed air gun, awwww yissss) as the front dust meshes are... Well, I can't see how air is getting through my case lol.

Had a clan member earlier kick me out of his car and kill me just to get my bounty, when I'd sat in the vehicle expecting him to help me out.

That was me :D but i legit didn't realize you were a crew member until you stated it! all i saw was a Skull and thought it was too good to be true for my daily mission to be sat in my car. so i do apologize! plus i didnt kill you the cops did :p

lol yeah too be honest i haven't cleaned it out since i got it!(year half ago).

I thought I'd do a little comparison between GTA V and San Andreas. Both at 1920 1080, both "high" but not maxed settings.

I've played for 7 hours now and am genuinely worried that I won't be able to get a handle on how the map 'works', if you know what I mean? I'm normally an FPS player and can imagine/see in my minds eye how the maps flows because they're small - at least comparatively - and repetition breeds familiarity.

But this is just H-U-G-E.

On the plus side, it's running and glorious at 60 fps with almost everything on very high or high, no MSAA, on a 4690k (@4.5), 8 GB of ram and a 280X with 3GB. No bugs, no crashes, no stutter - it's flawless and really, REALLY good fun.

Still worried about map comprehension though :(

I don't understand a 100% what you mean but I'm guessing you mean confusion of where you are in the world and how to get from point a-b? If so as with most open world games once you have put a couple of hours into them you start to get your bearings of where you are in the world and know which way to head to find a certain landmark.

If you get to the point of completing SP you should have a pretty good idea how to get anywhere on the map with relative easy and know most of the key landmarks you need to know about!

As to comparing it to a MP FPS map I doubt you are going to get the flow or angles you would from those maps as it isn't designed around that in the slightest.

i havent been able to get the game to look as good as it did when i first played it, it seems a lot more desaturated and a lot of fps drop

Had that last night it was like the game thought my pc was to sluggish and was dropping my graphics settings to obtain a decent frame rate.

all I did was change the refresh rate from 60 > 59 and back to 60 and everything was fine again.

I take it when your driving at high speed every texture that's loading is popping in like it's made out of a billion dots and not sharp like they should be?

Lol!

BTW how do I play with the ocuk crew? I'm in the crew but never played GTA online and the other day I was just on some random server?

I had this a couple of times yesterday, but only after I enabled 4x MSAA.
