***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

When I were a lad, we used to d/l music from something called Napster at 4kbs if you were lucky.

The speed sucks. But I was lucky enough to pre-install last week and let it run while I had dinner and watched a film.

Couldn't see any patch notes for any of the Day 1 via R*.

Will check later. So what is the size of the patches today for those of us at work?

Seem to be getting random crashes and not sure why - I cannot pin-point a reason for it. Sometimes it when a multiplayer game is loading, sometimes I'm just standing still. Only seems to happen about once an hour, but can be pretty annoying.
'apphang' is all I get.

none of my resources are being 100% either

I thought I'd do a little comparison between GTA V and San Andreas. Both at 1920 1080, both "high" but not maxed settings.

Great job with those images. Cool to see the same area in the older game and how it looks now.

if you have a 120/144hz monitor try playing at 60hz.

as posted my game is a crash fest at anything above 60hz even though games like bf4 make my gpu scream at 90c and no issues

Looking at google I'm not the only one others are saying the same thing
ERR_GFX_D3D_INIT after a few mins at high refresh rates

Nah, my monitor isn't that good - only 60hz

Game doesnt even work for me.
Click on the laucher, it changes my mouse to the loading thing for a few seconds then doesnt do anything.
Re-installed 3 times now (from back-up) same thing every time...
on windows 8.1, tried runngin in compatiblity mode / admin, nothing

sigh

Same sort of issue for me, also on W8.1.

Click "play" on steam, starts the "performing first time setup" for a couple of seconds, then nothing. Tried all the reccomended fixes, gonna try with the latest patch that's just come out, if that doesn't work I'll re-download the game.

you running any gpu monitoring programs? try turning them off

I did in testing to see if anything was maxing out and causing the crash - but I don't usually and am not currently. As i said, it's not all the time, just at the most inconvenient times.

for the record, i7 4770k and gtx 980 and I'm not running at max, but high (fps is all fine, and game seems to run fine until it will randomly crash)

I had the same thing yesterday I deleted the GTA 5 folder from here:

C:\Users\your user\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games

and here:

C:\Users\your user\Documents\Rockstar Games

I also removed social club from here:
C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games
C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games
C:\Users\your user\Documents\Rockstar Games

Been fine ever since. But mine is the R* downloaded version and not the steam version.

This will force it to reinstall social club and the other folder from scratch without nothing being left behind.

This game infuriates me more than any I've played recently.

Load the game up and my 360 pad works, nothing changes but then next time i try it doesn't work.

Crashes to desktop which then requires a restart.

Launcher is hit and miss whether it will load without an error message, if it does error then it will only work again if i restart it.

It's a cracking game but some of the design logic and errors are just plain stupid.
