My old man has ordered this machine, wondering if it's any good for just watching films.

It will literally just be for watching films off USB and HDD. Streaming etc..

He didn't, I told him I'd sort that anyway. The only thing he clicked was the 750GB for an extra £2.50.

It will be fine. I probably would have suggested an SSD though to give it quite a considerable boost. It would have pushed the price up but yeah it will be fine for his needs!

Should be fine A raspberry pi would have been a good bet too, plays all my 1080p films perfectly, though not sure about stream incorporation
