Nvidia: Who's Getting bored?

Now that would be really boring. Months and months of waiting and all they seem to deliver is beta drivers! :p

2 drivers in the last month and having a driver whql certified means nothing. Any how smogsy makes good points and it just goes to show that Nvidia's drivers are not the almighty that some would have people believe. Both sides need some work which will most likely always be the case.

There are some fairly big technical limitations to some of those things in regards to SLI - with the split memory and access times between memory data and frame buffers that are on the other GPU to the one that needs it - its why VRAM on GPUs is clustered so close around the core even though thats not thermally beneficial.

Some stuff they will find work arounds or clever ways to bypass issues but short of 2 cores with stacked memory in close proximity on the same PCB allowing short interconnects I can't see those kind of features being supported on SLI in a very timely fashion.

I'm more bothered we are still on 28nm :S I've money to burn on another GPU but I'd feel silly spending any significant amount on yet another 28nm based card :|

Hardly 2 drivers when we wait for around 4 months and then get a beta and then get a GTAV add-on. There wasn't that much else, they reinstated the Dying light profile but hadn't fixed it, Or so the notes say. We only got this driver because they needed to get the GTAV bits out,

First one was freesync and a few other bit's. Second one had a lot more than just dying light and gta. Go back and read the notes. People were counting nvidia driver releases that were hotfixes for something that nvidia broke in the first place. 2 driver releases is 2 driver releases. There might even be a third soon for crossfire free-sync and some other bits. My original point is that both sides have long running issues and problems which i think will never change especially where multi-gpu is concerned.

String - I only got GTA 5 set up yesterday. As usual I've been doing various SLI stutter tests. At first I was really annoyed as there was very apparent microstutter and judder when running SLI (but fine on one 780Ti).

Here's my findings so far:

Early testing on first getting game:

- Any sort of MSAA applied causes stutter with SLI. Even if only 2x MSAA, which is well within specs, and my Vram is not being over used (using 2.5GB max, monitoring it).

- Just using FXAA on its own is very smooth with SLI (but has slight blurring to the whole image as usual. I don't like FXAA)

- Using SweetFX SMAA, slight lumasharpen and a touch of liftgammagain ans subtle curve tweaks, NO MSAA in game and - Boom! All is Great with SLI :)

- If using a 120Hz monitor, and you have Gsync - Set the refresh rate to 85hz in game. Stops the frame rate jumping around so much, and it is totally smooth as silk!!!!!!!!!!
This is testing in the first area once you're into the game - outside Franklin's house etc. Need to test other areas but so far I have fixed my SLI stutter for now!

Good info mate.

Are you seeing the poor usage that I was experiencing? I've actually disabled SLI and pulled off the bridge and I'm getting the exact same frames minus the stutter. I'm getting really close to pulling out the second card and putting it in my media server to replace the 670 in there.

If The Witcher 3 has SLI issues I think that'll be it for me. :(
