Top Gear - New presenter

Definitely with Fox on this one - I like his videos but wouldn't want him on Top Gear.

Judging by how many times he's thrown his toys out of the pram when criticised on Pistonheads, I'm not sure he'd enjoy being a proper celebrity anyway.

There are some very strange folks out there, while Sue Perkins, would not have been my choice. (neither would Philip Glenister, he's clueless) death threats are a bit ott.

What do you expect from the sort of nuckle draggers that sign a petition in outrage of his treatment even before any facts or the full story was disclosed. A minor step up from the plebs chanting at football grounds.

Indeed - nothing against him and his /drive stuff is excellent but aside from maybe doing some car segments it would get pretty old fast as a regular thing on top gear.

Was brian johnson ever mentioned, I know he has his own show but really is a petrol head with a good sense of humour. I remember him on TG and he got on very well with Clarkson

Honestly... as much as I really enjoyed Top Gear... I think it was starting to get a bit tired.

This latest series was looking great, but now they have lost what ultimately it was - The Jeremy, James and Richard show - its time to end I think.

I thought it was getting stale too and haven't watched it for a good few years. Much preferred the earlier "new" top gears with more subtle setups to the OTT implausible and predictable sitcom it became (IMO of course!). It was like ticking off the gadgets used in a Roger Moore james bond.

That said, this gave it wider appeal and is ultimately made it more successful and appeal to non car enthusiasts.

With Chris Harris it would be like the gadget show. You want to watch it to see all the technology but all the presenters are arses so you cant. :(

Chris Harris would be perfect. He has proven he is an excellent car presenter (EVO, TyreSmoke, /Drive), knowledgeable about cars and is engaging to watch.

He would be far from perfect. He's knowledgeable about cars, can drive reasonably well and comes across as a nice bloke but that's where it ends. 'Excellent presenter' and 'engaging to watch' are not phrases that belong in a sentence with Chris Harris.

The chemistry between the 3 buffons, cant be replaced, like them or not, they were entertaining. I think the beeb need to drop the show now.

That said, I like the stuff May has done on his own, so hopefully he does a bit more of that.

John Bentley used to do the odd piece on old Top Gear, I think he actually had a job behind the camera. He then went over to 5th gear.

The BBC really need to think about what they want from Top Gear, and weather they are going to stick to doing what the current format at meet the inevitable new Clarkson production head on, or make something different.

If they're going head to head with Clarkson then we have have to remember it's now an international show. I wouldn't be surprised if JC is replace by an American which the two sidekicks remaining British.

It might seem like an odd choice, but what's Jay Leno up to at the moment?

On the other hand if they move back to the a format more like old top gear then I expect the model will change with there being a larger pool of presenters with only one or two being completely regular.

I like CH but not on top gear, it would be the complete wrong format for him. IMO I think that drive and his youtube channel is the best place for him, his appeal is too niche for mainstream Sunday broadcasting.

As for Danny John-Jules, if you get Robert Llewellyn and Craig Charles to co host then I will watch that **** all day long.
